"Yes!" Mommy screamed. I looked up at her, wanting to know what made her so happy. "I asked Alex out and he said yes!" Mommy squealed and kissed me on the forehead. I didn't know what that meant, but I was glad she was happy. "He will be here in two hours, so I need to shower," she said and got up to move to the forbidden room.
Where is she going? Why is she closing the door? I can't see her anymore! Anything could be happening in there! Oh no. I miss Mommy. I think I'll just lay by the door until she comes out. Oh, I'm so bored. Mommy takes a long time. Wait! The noise stops. The door is opening. . . Mommy! She took so long! Almost as long as we spend for walkies.
I wagged my tail and started sniffing. I had to make sure it was actually my mommy. I don't know what goes on in that room. The only things I know about it is that I'm not allowed in, but sometimes she takes me in for a bath. I don't like baths.
"Yes, hello puppy bear," she said, scratching me behind the ears. Another favorite spot. I just don't like it when she. . . "Bunny ears!" She held my ears up, so I looked like a bunny. I don't like this. It is humiliating to look like a bunny. Thankfully, she lets my ears go and I can be happy again.
Mommy walks over to another even smaller room I'm not allowed in and looks at all of the clothes that hang there. She holds a lot of them up to herself in the mirror and decides on a green one. I like green. Green is good. Green means I can pee and poop without getting in trouble. Although, I don't like green food. That is the food Mommy doesn't like as much, and then gives to me. They are flavorless. Not like chips. I like chips. Chips are my favorite. Bacon is good, too.
"What do you think, pup?" Mommy asked me, drawing my thoughts away from food. I stared at Mommy. She looked like she wanted something from me, but I don't understand what. I think that-
A KNOCK
"Mommy! Someone is at the door! Someone is trying to get in! Be careful, Mommy, we could be in danger!" I yelled to her as soon as I heard that noise at the door. I guess she just doesn't understand what I said either, because she told me the 'no' word again and opened the door anyway. Oh well. I guess she has no problem putting herself in danger.
"Alex," she said to the man in the doorway.
"Hi," the man said, looking at my Mommy. "You look beautiful."
"You!" I shouted at the man I now recognized. "Why are you here? What do you want with my Mommy?" I shouted.
"What's up with Castor?" he asked, completely ignoring my questions.
"Mommy! Mommy! Don't go!" But, yet again, the annoying humans didn't understand a thing I was saying.
I really wish humans would speak a normal language that made sense. Everything would work out so much easier.
"Hush," Mommy said to me before turning back to Alex. "I don't know. Maybe if you get closer then he will recognize you as the guy he met a month ago."
"No, I don't think so," Alex said. "I don't think he likes me very much."
"Oh well," Mommy said. "He'll get over it. Let's go."
They left and closed the door behind them. I ran to the door to watch her go.
I'm so worried about her. She shouldn't be going with a strange man. I don't know that man. I don't like him. I tried to remind myself that Mommy knows what she is doing, but I really think that this is a mistake. What kind of person is he? He doesn't seem nice. When Aunt Eva met me, she was very nice. Alex hasn't done anything outwardly mean to either me or Mommy, but he doesn't seem like a nice person.
