I stare at my mirror for the umpteenth as I question my outfit choice once again. Of course, this is all happening last minute, I'm Vanessa LaPointe and I expect nothing less from myself.
Maybe my outfit is too extra, maybe it'll be uncomfortable once I'm jumping around and dancing, maybe... maybe... maybe... I should change into something different! Do I have time? I should have time, maybe I'll change my shoes... yeah that'll work!
The sound of a notification pulls me from my suffocating thoughts. I open my closet door reach into my back pocket and pull out my phone to check the message that I just received.
Unknown: Your Uber driver Jessica has arrived! Please meet her outside!
Well, I guess it is too late to change now.
I shake my head, trying to clear my mind of the current doubts about my wardrobe choice, as I quickly exit my room. Making my way through the living room I look through my purse one last time to make sure I have everything I might need tonight.
Ticket? Check. Receipts? Check. Drivers license? Check. Debit card? Check. Keys? Check. Headphones? Check. Portable charger and cord? Check.
While in the middle of my mental checklist, I hear my older sister Lindsey yell bye from somewhere within the house. As I open the door I yell back "LATER LOVE YOU" and exit the house.
I make my way down the small stone path that leads from my porch to the sidewalk in silence. I look up as I near the street and see a white Honda parked in front of me with a light-up 'Uber' sign in their window as promised. The window rolls down and I hear my name being called from inside.
"Yes, I'm Vanessa!" I announce to the driver as I enter the back seat of the small car.
"Hello! How are you today?" A blonde woman chirps at me as I buckle my seatbelt.
"Hi, I'm doing well, and you?" I make brief eye contact with my driver and smile as she pulls away from my home and onto the street.
"So where are you headed off to?" I sigh quietly at her completely ignoring my question and asking me another. All of the Uber drivers seem to do that, it must be a part of their 'training'.
I wish someone would just have a normal conversation with me for once so I would enjoy these rides more than I do currently.
"Off to a concert, I'm sure the traffic has been crazy around the arena" She lets out a little laugh indicating the truth in my statement.
"We will get you there on time, no worries!" I smile as I look down at my phone to check the time.
Shit, I have 45 minutes until the Meet and Greet, she better be right.
I placed earbuds in as she turned onto the main road, saving the both of us from any further awkward small talk that would most likely occur if I hadn't. I press play and Harry Styles fills my mind and I drown everything else out.
God, I can't wait until I get my car.
*Twenty minutes later*
Jessica pulls up to the front of the arena and looks back at me with a large smile plastered on her face.
"Have a wonderful time Vanessa! It was a pleasure spending that time with you!" I give her a small smile as I wish her well and step out of her vehicle.
As she pulls away behind me I look up at the massive arena in front of me. My smile grew as the excitement began brewing in my stomach.
"I cannot believe this is happening!" I squealed to myself before advancing towards the front doors.
