Life's More Complicated

Chapter 1

Jordyn's POV
I walked into the rehearsal room, I am going to be the understudy for Julia Trojan in Bandstand: A New American Musical. As I'm walking I hear someone scream in a high voice, "Gigi!" I turn around to see none other than Corey Cott. To his cry I respond, "Gaston!" I run over and give him a hug, I hadn't seen him since we were in Gigi together back in 2015.

"How have you been, Corey?" I ask breaking the hug, looking into his warm brown eyes that could melt you with a single glance. "How's Theo?"

"Great!" He answers with as much enthusiasm as Theo, "Theo's great, he misses you." Corey and I were close during Gigi, and one time I convinced him to bring Theo to the theater in between shows.

"Aw, I miss him too. Maybe you can bring him to rehearsal? I'm sure Andy wouldn't mind, maybe you can convince him to put Theo in the show!" We both laugh at the last part.

Time Skip

Rehearsal is great! I work with the most talented people, and not to mention I met Laura Osnes! Only my idol since forever! We had a break so I decided to text my boyfriend, I hadn't seen him all day since I had to get up for rehearsal.

Morning Ben! Since I had to
get up early, do you maybe
want to grab lunch or dinner after rehearsal?

Ben 🗞
Morning Jordy! Lunch (or dinner) sounds great! I'll pick you up from rehearsal, just text me when your done.

Sounds like a plan!😁

Later that day

Ben and I decided to meet after my rehearsal for a sort of late lunch/early dinner at Shake Shack. We both got burgers and shakes.

"So, how was rehearsal?" Ben asks taking a bite out of his burger.

"It was great," I answer as I dip one of my fries into my shake (something I've done since I was little), "I saw Corey. He plays the lead."

"So you've told me. How is he?" He seems a tad unamused in his response.
'Did something happen between them,' I wonder. They were really close during Newsies, and remained close. The only time I think there was slight tension was when Corey beat him out for Gaston in Gigi.
" I thought maybe we could get together, the three of us, and maybe invite Andrew and Scott, for like a mini Newsies Reunion... What do you think?" I'm hesitant to ask him because of their falling out.

"Sounds good, maybe we can do it in Central Park. I know you always mention how much you want to picnic there," he answers casually.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that.
"Sounds great, I'll talk to Corey tomorrow, you text Andrew?"

"Sounds like a plan!"

A/N: So this is the first chapter so far. I'm excited to write this, I've got so much up my sleeve!! This'll be fun!! Sorry if you liked my Mean Girls book, I just didn't know where I was going with that. But hopefully you all enjoy this!
