Chase
After finding a spot, Stacey and I joined our friends in the senior hallway at the chosen meet up spot, which just so happened to be my locker. Before we even reached my locker Stacey’s friends started with their over dramatic screeching shit.
“Omg Stace are you ok? Like did they hurt you or anything?” screeched Amber and Jenna in unison.
“I’m totally fine. Just extremely pissed! That bitch almost hit Chase’s new car!” Stacey once again over dramatized.
I seriously wish they could have met up with her at HER locker, because it really was too early for this shit. I obviously wasn’t the only one thinking that because my best friend Drew stood there shaking his head with annoyance.
“You good bro?” he asked.
I told him I was, and then he and I left the girls and went to our homerooms.
Sitting in homeroom and just being away from Stacey felt amazing. It’s so draining dealing with her bullshit and the bullshit at home. It’s nice to just be away from all of it sometimes. My happy thoughts were interrupted as I heard a low damn escape from Drew. I opened my eyes and followed the direction of his gaze. My eyes landed on dreadhead’s girl’s friend.
“Dude, she’s gorgeous.” Drew said hitting my arm.
As she walked in you could hear the buzz of her headphones click off as she shoved the ipod in her purse. I assumed she already forgot my face as she chose the empty seat right next to me, but after taking a quick glance around the room I realized it was the only seat. On my other side I could I heard Drew still going on and on.
“Yea she’s hot, but trust me you haven’t seen her friend yet.” I whispered.
“Wait, you know her?” He practically jumped out of his seat.
“Not exactly. She just happens to be one of the girls in the car I almost hit this morning.”
“You’re shitting me!” Drew laughed extremely loud, gaining the attention of not only our teacher, but also his new dream girls along with her eye roll.
No jackass I’m not. She was in the backseat. Oh and just so you know your little outburst just then, let her know that you know me, which probably just killed any chance you ever had of getting to know her.
“Shit man, you’re probably right.”
“Excuse me Mr. Norton, you might want to take a look at the Valley code of conduct. The summer has clearly erased your memory of what language is and isn’t acceptable. It is only the first day back, I would really hate for you to be spending the first part of your morning in Dr. Greens’ office,” Mrs. Hale said without even glancing up from her computer, “don’t let it happen again.”
Mrs. Hale was pretty chill for a teacher, that and the fact that she had been mine and Drew’s homeroom teacher since freshman year, so I wasn’t all that surprised that she gave Drew’s dumbass a pass.
“Ok, now we only have about 15 minutes before the bell rings so let’s get started. I’m passing around a sign-in sheet, simply sign your name by your space and pass it along. Now I know that for some of you this is your first time at Valley and things may seem a bit hectic at the moment, so I want all of you, new and old, to feel free coming to me for anything. I guarantee I will have at least one of you later on today in my class. For those of you who have had me as a homeroom teacher, you’re probably thinking, this crazy woman has lost it seeing as how in the past I’ve only taught freshman. Well surprise, the school board along with the majority of the staff felt that due to our current situation we need to put in place a new class to help bridge the gap. So this year I will be teaching ethnic studies. I’m not going to ruin the surprise of what the class is about for those of you I might have later today. So on those notes have a wonderful day people, make the most of it!”
It was like the bell was waiting for her to finish her little speech, because right on cue it rang and everyone headed towards the hall either to meet up with friends, put things in lockers, or actually be on time to class. Drew and I headed for the hall and then separated at the door so we could head to our lockers and then to class. Before I could even get my locker door open I could see Stacey rounding the corner and heading straight towards me. Before she glanced up from her phone a made a quick dodge into what I thought was the boys bathroom, but of course I was so extremely wrong.
“What the hell?” yelled dreadhead’s girl.
“Um yea, please don’t scream. Just give me two seconds.” I quickly whispered to here.
“Did you wake up this morning and just decide to fuck with one of the new kids today, or are you planning this shit as the day goes on?”
“No, um I’m actually avoiding my girlfriend right now, and again I’m sorry about this morning. I’m Chase by the way.” I said sticking my hand out.
She looked at me like I was some crazy person before she actually took my hand. “Jade. Apology accepted, but you might want to get a muzzle for your tangerine. Now despite what you may think of me and the rest of the people from my school I’m going to leave you to your “avoiding” so I can get an education.”
I probably should have been irritated by what she called Stace, but it didn’t bother me. What bothered me was that she was gone before I even knew it, and the fact that I was still standing in the girl’s bathroom. As soon as I peeked out to make sure the cost was clear I headed straight to my locker and then off to my class…
