"So how're all of your first days going? I hope your expectations are being met."

Jordan peered around the table waiting for a response, but seemed unfazed by the lack of attention he was getting. Sarah and Nick continued to eat their lunch, whereas Jack merely shifted in his seat.
I decided to answer him.

"It's going fine so far, how about you?"

Surprised, he immediately turned his attention to me.

"Fine as well, thank you for asking."

I smiled briefly and nodded, then continued to eat my lunch as well. I wondered why nobody else seemed to care that he was just sitting there.

"Jordan what do you want, can't you see that we're in the middle of a conversation," exclaimed Jack.

"Didn't look like you were conversing to me.." muttered Jordan while peering up and making eye contact with Jack.

Jack narrowed his eyes.

"I was just leaving anyway, nice to meet all of you." Jordan quickly replied. He grabbed his messenger bag that he put down earlier and left in a rush. As he walked away, I noticed something in his right hand.

"SHIT"

I turned around to see Jack frantically rummaging through the front pocket of his backpack that was settled on the floor.

"He stole my money again! Ugh I have to get him back." He replied while scanning the packed cafeteria for his mischievous brother.

"Wait how'd he steal it? He was only here for like, two minutes." Questioned Sarah.

"I have no clue how he does it. Most of the time he just takes it to mess with me." Jack explained.

"Ok well, we have to get him back somehow...what if we pulled a prank on him?" Asked Nick.

We all perked up after hearing the word prank. Maybe that wasn't such a bad idea. After all, it seemed like this wasn't the first time Jordan had stolen Jack's stuff.

"Something funny and embarrassing, but not enough to get us into trouble." Finished Nick.

"We'd have to make sure that it can't be traced back to us-" added Sarah.

"We could find a way to clear the security cams? Our homeroom isn't far from the control room."

"Ooo that's a good idea, but how are we gonna get in? It's always locked and I've never seen the key-"

"Guys, guys, this sounds great but do we really wanna pull a prank at the beginning of the new year? I mean, what if we mess something up."
I'm not usually the voice of reason but someone has to play devil's advocate.

"I'm in."

We all turned our heads to face Jack, who hadn't said a word until now.

"Maybe this'll teach him not to mess with me anymore. Besides, it sounds like fun." Jack smirked.

Then everyone turned to look at me.

Like I said, I'm not usually the voice of reason. I mean, how much trouble could we even get in for pulling a prank? I bet students here do it all the time.

"Alright, fine. I'm in."

But I still had a bad feeling about this...

Hey! Gosh it's been a while hasn't it. I started writing this book wayyy back in the seventh grade with a lot of motivation and many ideas. Somewhere between then and now, I lost motivation and didn't know where this story was headed...

But I'm baCK noW!!!
And after reading my previous chapters (which are really cringey ew) I wanted to make some changes to the storyline. Only minor details, but hopefully they'll make the story flow better. I'll explain these later, as they don't hold much importance at the moment, but let me know how you felt about Chapter 8 in the comments!
