The moment I stepped into the school, I could feel the tension through the air. Each person I passed looked at me in confusion and disbelief as I ducked my way through people toward the paper that determined the future of my sophomore year. Slowly, the words on the paper became clearer and bigger as I got closer. Written in bold writing was:
JOE BETTERMAN
ANTHEM REEVES
CASPER STORM
MCKENZIE HEARTHappiness. Oh my god, I got on in! I thought as I turned around, only to stop short in front of Joe Betterman, the star baseball player.
"Hey McKenzie!" He knew my name? "Looking at the results? You get in?"
"Yeah, I did. I'm 'Rainbow Girl'." I told him, gazing at my shoes.
"Great! I got in too!" He seemed to realize how much weight was now on his shoulders. "Crap." And he disappeared down the hallway. I sigh, relieved that I saw the results. But I became confused. Anthem Reeves was only the most popular girl in school and the head cheerleader. Why did she try out? And Joe Betterman is the schools best
baseball player and the womanizer of the whole school, what did he want with music? Luckily, practice started tomorrow. Unfortunately, it was in the morning at 7. I am not a morning person. Neither was every person in all of my classes that day, nobody wanted to be at school. But I did, I liked school.
