Roy’s ROV:

A lonely sigh came from my lips as I dropped another box full of things against my wall. Five boxes soon joined the first and sweat started to surface under my soccer sweatshirt. Quickly dispelling my pride “Soccer Team” onto my unmade bed, I spun around in a slow circle, appraising my new found bedroom. My twin sized bed was in the center of the room currently, but the only other things taking residence in this tiny white painted room were my boxes and night stand.

Walking over to a large box labeled ‘X’, because creative was something I’m certainly not, I pulled my alarm clock from its darkest corner. I deposited my nightstand where I wanted and plugged it in, this is what I needed a reminder of what time it was I bitterly thought.

My own phone informed me I had been working on my room for a half an hour and now it was only 5:30. Well the saying time flies when you’re having fun, royal blowed in honesty.

Thinking my room might cool off if I opened my windows, I stalked over to the giant double doors window facing the neighbor’s house.

I would never understand American architecture, some was breath taking then the small things like where windows faced were over looked, ignorant weasels just rushed the final - . I will never have to bitch about small things like that again.

The windows were flush against the house and my eyes made contact with the window directly a crossed with my own. There standing in the window was a girl. Her hair was wet and she was only wearing a towel but she was looking down at something, she bent over to pick something up and the white towel covering her slipped from her own curvy body.

My mind was yelling at me to stop staring, it’s not right, not only was it an invasion of this girl’s privacy but it was also so wrong. She was a girl for goodness sake! But as she turned to face the window my breath caught in my throat and my heart beat skipped.

“Aurora!” My sister’s voice carried up the steps. “Come down stairs!”

My eyes bugged out as realization dawned on me and when I looked back up the redhead was gone from the window.

Her body was an image branded into my mind and as my sister called my name again, my low ponytail swung as I attempted to dispel the girl from my head.

Plopping down on a stool in our new kitchen my mother gave me a slight scowl. “Roy! Why must you also act so unladylike? You insist on being called Roy even though your name is beautiful, you wear those clothes that are baggy and unflattering, I mean honey can you try to be a wee bit more like your sister?”

In the middle of my mother’s spiel my head landed in my arms on the counter top, and as she went on I enabled myself to agree with her.

“I’m sorry Mum, I am trying but that’s no excuse I’ll work on it yeah?” I told her miserably.

She walked towards me and placed a kiss on my forehead like she did every time she saw me before work. I could feel her warm hand stroking my hair as her lips moved on my head. This was one of my most hated moments as a kid, I knew what was coming next and I recall pushing her away stomping to my room on many occasions.

“Mum?” I said lifting my head from her grasp. “I love you.”

Her blue eyes gazed down at me and I could tell she was holding something back, “I’ll see you before school on Wednesday, your sister is going to the campus and won’t be home ‘til later, make sure you eat.”
