Boyd's P.O.V.I woke up to Mrs. Fields yelling at us to get ready and come downstairs. I immediate got dressed and went downstairs where she told us that there were people coming to adopt. There are about 50 kids in our orphanage ranging from 0 to 17. Once you turn 18, they kick you out. I have to share a room with five other kids and we quickly ran to our rooms to get our stuff together incase they by some miracle picked us.
We went back downstairs and all sat down in multiple lines with our age group and waited for the people to arrive. The age group is two years, so 0 to 2, 2 to 4, 4 to 6, 6 to 8, 8 to 10 and so on until we reach 17. I am the only one in the 8 to 10 and 10 to 12 groups, so I sat alone at the back. All the other kids talked to each other and I didn't because I don't talk very much. The doors swung open and everybody went silent. Mrs. Fields walked in with two couples trailing behind her. They looked at us and then went into Mrs. Field' office. Everybody went back to talking and after ten minutes, Mrs. Fields opened her office door and called out "Christopher, Willow, Cindy, James, Tyler."
All the kids who's names were called got up and walked into Mrs. Fields' office in a single file line like she taught us.
Ten minutes later, everybody walked out but Christopher and Willow.I saw a couple walk out with Christopher and Willow. Wait, that means that the other couple Still hasn't picked a kid yet. I tuned out and looked at the floor, knowing there was no chance my name was gonna get called. I heard Mrs. Fields' door open and she called a few more kids. "Tyler, James, Jackson, Boyd."
Boyd? Wait, that's my name! I stood up and walked into Mrs. Field's office with the other three boys.
They looked at us and then Mrs. Field asked us a few questions that the parents wanted to know. I swear it's like a beauty pageant, the potential adopting couple are the judges, and you have to try to impress them with your answers.Mrs. Fields sent us back out and we sat back down.
After ten minutes, she called me back into the room.
I got up and walked into her office.
"Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Wellington would like to adopt you. Go get your things and come back downstairs." Mrs. Fields said and I nodded.
I went upstairs and to my room.
I brought my bag down and Mrs. Fields was waiting for me with the couple.
We walked out of the orphanage and to their fancy car.
I got in the car and sat in the back.
"So Boyd, we have three other children. Ramona who is eighteen, Asher who is Sixteen, and Royce who is fourteen." Mrs. Wellington told me.
"You can call us mom and dad if you want, or you can call us Conrad and Michelle. We won't push you to call us mom and dad." Mr. Wellington, I mean dad said.
"Okay." I replied."Now since it's summer, you don't have school. But when school starts in September, you'll be going to school with Royce and Asher. The school is one of the most prestigious private schools in the country and you will have to wear uniforms." Mom told me.
I nodded and the rest of the ride was silent.
After an hour drive, we arrived at a humongous mansion.
