Loyalty.
Loyalty is having a strong feeling of allegiance.
Humans grow into fine people when they subject themselves to devotion, to blindly follow someone worthy of their time. Becoming allies leads to friendships, admiration leads to love. Love blossoms into transcendence and fulfillment. Indeed. What a wonderful thing "loyalty" can create. "Loyalty" is something Humans know well. Like dogs. Or like children that know nothing but the love of their mother's touch.
But in their world?
There was no room for such pleasantries.
With the walls tapered to the tastes of its owners, a meek voice danced up and down the hallways to compliment the spacious innards of the mansion. Servant-like civilians raced up and below the stairs, carrying bundles of old and new clothes, their shoes tampering against the tiles like small children. Within the ballroom, countless creatures were sweeping the floor from the golden coins that scattered and piled in the corners. Human-like entities spoke heatedly among themselves, raising and dropping their gazes from the curtains that draped over the windows. It was like preparations were underway. Or perhaps, it was a holiday.
But it was not.
As of today, changes were expected to be met. New clothes were to be measured and sewn. New furniture to be purchased. In newly instated Rmersa Selva, the political leaders were constantly replaced like a never-ending cycle. Rmersa was the land of the barbaric, the state without morals and always drenched in coppery red. The same is said about the leaders. They hold no compassion, they hold no remorse. In fact, Rmersa is always flocked with monstrous beings that wish to take over the nation. Battles and assassinations. Poisoning and bribery. Most new leaders meet their demise after the fifth week. However....
The new arrivals seemed ample enough to take care of themselves.
Not to mention, they were both worthy of loyalty, the very loyalty their society had no room for.
In the center of the room, a robed figure was kneeling a few feet away from a throne. The figure had sharp shoulders and leathery skin, purple eyes that darted to and fro. And before him, was a throne.
The throne itself was adorned with wild-like embroideries, chiseled with a language unknown to the Human tongue. Silver ivy ran from the border to a thin line in the center, an intricate sun blooming at the head. Along the sides, however, sat a navy cloak that draped to the floor and over the seat. The rustic red that was sprinkled over the fine blue only seemed to soil the white throne, but the teen standing beside it only made the throne drip with longing for its rightful owner.
The teen looked very much Human, save for the bone-like spikes protruding from his shoulders and the sharp teeth that poked past his lips. Those features, however, weren't the only odd things about the youth.
It was just the start.
"W-We are searching high and low for them. Y-You should not trouble yourself..."
The man kneeling on the ground, Unsworn, continued his nervous rambling, his brow covered with sweat from the recent chain of events. But the teen stood there silently while staring blindly in front of him, cradling his own bloodied hand.
A female-like creature approached the young teen with two bundles in her arms. One bundle was colored the shade of salmon while the other was off-white. Her green scales complimented the curtains cascading over her arms, but her eyes seemed too clouded with self-doubt to ever realize her worth.
"Master Sightless," the reptilian woman began, "The chamber men wish to know what colors you would fancy-"
"Whichever color that would serve you all the best is the color I would choose. Now, run along," the teen, Sightless, answered abruptly.
