Chapter 4

Ava
I dont know how I got through today. I barely remember what happened in school. My memory was all in a haze.

I opened the front door to the house. I did notice however that my father's car wasn't in the parking lot. Thank goodness. I didnt need his bullcrap now. My heart was in a million pieces. The door creaked open when I let go of the handle and then I saw my mom sitting on the living room couch like she was waiting for me. I knew my eyes were swollen so I tried not to make eye contact but also look calm and collected.

"Ava, it's time. He wont be back till next week. I think it's time to move. I have some friends and family in places who are willing to help us leave. But we have to do it now." She stood up and made her way to me "for your safety. For lex and lay's safety" it was then I looked up at her, she stumbled back like she had seen a ghost but then, isn't that what she saw? A ghost of who I was? "Honey? What happened? Are you alright?"

"I'm alright mom. " I say but she gives me a quizzical look and, "I broke up with Levi" I blurt out almost immediately.  I could feel my heart caving in. Just as I was about to collapse she put her arms around me, giving me a knowing look, she let me cry out for some time and then she began singing a song she used to sing when I was younger. I remember she'd sing the song every time I go to sleep.  Sometimes she'd cry a little and sometimes she'd smile.

I love my mom cause she just know how to patch me up.  I still feel the pain but it's bearable. "when do we leave?" I ask her as I wipe the tears off my face.

"Now Ava, we need to leave now. I've started packing. Lay's sleeping though and Lex is picking up where I left off." I noticed she was ranting and something doesn't seem quite right. 
"mom? What is it?" I also notice her hesitation. If she lies to me I'd know.  She gives me a tight lipped smile and I know what's coming but before she gets the chance to speak I cut her off.  "Don't lie to me" she looks shocked but quickly covers it up and gives me a nod then gives me a sympathetic look,  " I haven't been completely honest with you honey.  But I can't explain now. I promise I would but not now.  We need to get ready to leave before anything goes wrong".  I want to press on but I drop it and turn to leave for my room but give her one last look searching her hazel eyes for clues but all I see is her nerve building up and I sigh,  "we'll make it out of here mom. I promise"

She gives me a small smile.  "I know honey." I turn my back to leave but she calls ot my name and I turn back to her.  "You know I love you and I always will.  Never forget that. I will always be with you and your brothers ".
My eyebrows  knit together in confusion. Why is she talking like she won't ever see us again? I decide to let it slide and focus on all of us getting out of here.  "I know mom.  I love you to.  I'm going to pack and help Lex when I'm done" she gives me a small nod and I give her a reassuring smile before I leave her in the living room.

Something's wrong.

Relax Ava nothing's wrong.  Don't go jumping into conclusions. In 30 minutes Lex and I are done packing.  I go to my mom's  room and see her things packed and Lex brushes past me to pick up her suitcase to put it in the living room. He walks back in to see me deep in thought. I crash on mom's bed before he let's out a nervous laugh.
I open one eye and raise my brows asking him what's funny.  "well you do know something is up with mom right?"
"No shit. She's acting all weird. She's up to something and I can't put my finger on it." I let out a frustrated sigh and turned to Lex. He was about to say something but a gunshot interrupted him and many more followed after that we ran to meet my mom and an 11 year old Layel gripping my mother's hand like his life depends on it. It probably does. I watch as my mom gets a gun out of her purse and tosses it to Lex, then she tosses me another. She takes one more for herself most likely. I'm sure the guards and whoever our escape is are the one's making a ruckus outside. My mom turns to Layel and tells him sternly, "stay with Lex and don't leave him alright." I'm not surprised though, Lex has always been the better at taking shots but I'm better at fighting.  Our father made sure we all did this for self defense and what not. I watched as layel went over to Lex and we took our positions by the sides of the door. Soon the shots died down and the door swung open and we all aimed our guns at the man that walked in.  I don't think I've ever seen him before but he looks somewhat familiar. Still trying to figure out whether to shoot at the man in front of us. He already had his hand up with a gun in his hands.  I opened my mouth to tell him to drop his weapon but my mother cut me off.

"Jack??" watched her lower her weapon and go over to hug him.  I turned to look at Lex whose face was laced with the same confusion as mine. We both still had our guns pointed at his head ready to blow his brains out if he happened to be a threat.  I watched him kiss my moms forehead and reply, "it's good to see you again Lana". He turned to look at me and his eyes showed disbelief  then a tint of happiness, "Ava? It's been years since I last saw you,  I don't know if you remember me" he then turned to Lex and smiled "you and Lex have grown so much" he looked down to layel who hid behind Lex and he laughed,  " I'm guessing this is layel? Laura talks about him all the time".

Laura?? Who's Laura??

"I hope you've been taking care of my sister?" my mom says with a smile.

Sister?  She has a sister?

"I don't see me having a choice.  Everytime I look at her I remember the threat you made to me years ago.  She's the exact replica of you.  I wish you didn't have the same goddamn face" he says rolling his eyes.

"well she is my twin sister.  But you don't get to complain because you married her. "

What? It's taking everything in me not to blow them up with questions.  But me and my inquisitive self knows it's not the the time.

Jack turns to Lex and I and notices our weapons still pointed at him. He sighs,  "um-,  guys I think we've established that I'm not a threat. So please can you put down the guns before someone mistakenly blows my brains out" he said smirking at me.  I turn to Lex who was already looking at me for reasurrance. I gave him a nod before we both lowered our weapons. 

"Thank goodness! Now that I'm out of arms way may we get going now before anymore guards show up. Laura is waiting at the airport we have to leave now,  I'm sure the security alarm has been off for the past 5 minutes?" we nod at him carrying our bags while Lex and layel rush to the black sedan waiting for us and some other black vans.

Please forgive my lazy ass for not updating quick enough. I'm so sorry. I finally figured out how the story is gonna go.  Please stay tuned and don't give up on me yet.  Secrets will be revealed.

Okay just being overly dramatic.  I'm sorry I've been a piece of shit for not updating I'm going to start the next chapter immediately.  I'll make it all up to you by revealing that ava is going to meet someone new. Someone mysterious.
