Flipped
By: Wendelin Van Draanen
Summary (Of Book):
Here's the situation: girl likes boy, but boy doesn't like girl. Six years pass. Now girl stops liking boy. And—wait for it—boy now likes girl. Needless to say, our boy and girl are in for a bumpy ride.
Flipped is a romance told in two voices. The first time Juli Baker saw Bryce Loski, she flipped. The first time Bryce saw Juli, he ran. That's pretty much the pattern for these two neighbors until the eighth grade, when, just as Juli is realizing Bryce isn't as wonderful as she thought, Bryce is starting to see that Juli is pretty amazing. How these two teens manage to see beyond the surface of things and come together makes for a comic and poignant romance.
Opinion/ Review:
One thing I need to say before I get any further, Flipped is also a movie, but I have only read the book so far. Flipped was a awesome story to read. It has funny, serious, and sad moments, but has excitement and thrill laced into the pages as well. True to its title, this book really flips at the end. This book is a romance, but more of an indirect romance. I enjoy how the reader can follow along Juli and Bryce's life in two different POV's. The same story told by two very different people enhances the whole story. It was very real-life with real-life problems and solutions. In my opinion, the story ending with a cliffhanger really bothered me. Of course I can make up what happens next, but Wendelin Van Draanen is an amazing author and I would want her to write it for all the people who want a sequel (Including me) to read and enjoy.
