"Ellie." I glance over at where my best friend Alexia is sitting "It's time."
"Already?" she nods in reply. " Okay Alexia, let's go."
Today we are rebelling against the corrupt BLI and are leaving Battery City. We've been planning to do this with our other friends Hannah and Julie, but last week, Julie was taken by the Draculoids. Ugh, Draculoids. those scum hardly even have a soul left and only do what the Scarecrows tell them. Tonight we rebel against their tyranny, and defy them, for us, and for Julie.
The four of us first decided to do this about a month after my parents were taken by the Draculoids and two months after we found...it-the radio station I found when I was rewiring my headphones-a serious offense, by the way. I've rewired all of ours. Alexia and I were in my room when a voice came on over the static. The voice of Doctor Death Defying. Afterwards we listened to it every chance we got, and Dr. D told us all about the Fabulous Killjoys. Party Poison, Fun Goul, Kobra Kid, and Jet Star. They save people from Dracs and rebel against BLI-they can even defeat Scarecrows! The four of us made a pact that one day, we would do those things.
Then my parents were taken, and since Alexia is an orphan, it meant that we were both out on the streets. That was about four months ago. We were waiting until the time was perfect, and when Julie was taken, then Hannah losing her mother and her aunt about to turn her in to the orphanage, well...let's just say that now, we don't have a choice.
Hannah lives on the outskirts of the city, about ten minutes from the line that is said to be the end of Battery City. Alexia and I are going to pick her up, and then the three of us will cross the line together.
When we arrive at Hannah's house, i knock on the door six times and whistle twice, which was our decided signal. A minute later, Hannah comes out with three back packs, one for each of us. Alexia and I shove our stuff into them while we walk.
"Did you remember any food?" I ask Hannah " Because we bought as much as we could." She nods " Good."
"So, how will we know where we are?" Hannah asks. They both turn to me.
"I printed out some refrences and brought all of my Dad's maps. then I cross-referenced and by using a list of Dr. D's clues, I-"
"A little simpler, please?" Alexia asks, cutting me off.
"X marks the spot." I grin, holding out my map. We continue walking towards the line, and eventually, we make it there. "Okay, last chance, everyone double check your gear so we can make sure we have everything we need."
"I think s-" a shout cuts off Hannah's whisper.
"Theyre over here!" the voice yells. we grab our equipment and start running, but we're to late, soon, the police have us surrounded, with two men per every one of us. "Girls, come with us and you may be dealt with kindly."
" We can beat them." Alexia whispers "Your Dad taught us to fight."
"Last chance ladies, we do do this the easy way or the hard wa-"
"How 'bout we do this my way!" I yell, charging the nearest cop and kicking him in the chest, I quickly swipe his gun and shoot his foot, I then wound the legs of two more and take their guns as well. a glance over at Alexia tells me that she has done the same. "Did you get th-" a gunshot goes off, but neither of us had fired. I'm next to Hannah within seconds " Quick, we have to get her to Dr. D!" I yell at Alexia.
"No." Alexia replies, "She wont make it, we have to take her to a hospital, we can re-enter the city in a few weeks. She won't make it if we bring her with."
"Bull. We are not leaving Hannah behind. She'll make it." i pick her up piggy back style after taking off my bag. "You carry my bag, I'll carry her." Alexia doesn't argue any more, she knows that there's no point, I'm way too stubborn.
