"Hurry up!" complained my so called friend Jordan.
I threw on my rugged black high tops, and asked "How's this for a roller skate night?" Jordan looked me up and down as if searching for a weapon at an airport.
"It works I guess Stevie, but ditch the glasses and the braid."
I took down my hair, and my very wavy blonde hair poofed out in every direction possible. While somehow managing to tame the goddamn beast on my head, I decided to leave the glasses on my face. I could have taken them off, and sucked it up with the pain of contacts. I'm honestly way too lazy to attempt the hassle.
I grabbed my phone and a small amount of cash and sprinted out the door.
"You know you're always so late," Jordan said out from the front seat of her black convertible.
She isn't wrong. I am always late. I hopped into the cramped front seat next to her. She puts the keys in her car. The engine reved up and I swear it sounded like a fucking jet. We pulled out of the very torn up parking lot and went on our way. She grabbed her phone, and threw on a playlist of sucky pop songs that all sound the same. It is incredible that people actually like this stuff. All they talk about is money and sex with a girl from "da club".
She started talking about her ex, Brandon, who had dumped her a few months ago. She then continued to gossip about a girl named Stacy Dennings.
I pretty much spaced out, and put myself on auto loop for things like " yes... no way... okay," so on so forth. During that time I started thinking about my future, because anything is better than listening to someone talking about how it isn't fair that Starbucks discontinued the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
The one thing I spend most of my time thinking about is when I will meet my future bride to be. It could be tomorrow or in three years. I am very sick and tired of being alone. I have no real friends. The ones I'm meeting are from a sorority I helped cater a party for. They told me I looked pathetic and depressed. Jordan said " A night out would be doing my ass a favor."
So now I am standing in line for a pair of skates with a bunch of future McDonald's employees.
"What size miss?" an angsty teen, that definitely doesn't want to be here, asked.
"I'll take the in-line skates right over there," I replied hoping there would be no further conversation.
He handed me a pair that looked like they have never seen the care from a sanitary wipe. I quickly grabbed the brownish colored skates, smiled at the teen, then went on my way. Lacing up my skates, I saw something that caught my eye. A woman with half-shaved brown hair walked by me. She slided my way as she walked, and she slipped me a lime green piece of paper. It fell straight to my lap. Grabbing the paper, I unfolded the paper and It read " 10:30 laser tag." I looked around and I couldn't see her. I had so many questions to ask. I guess the only way to find out is to sign up for the 10:30 laser tag slot.
As I slowly crept away from the crowd of girls that took a bath in perfume, they suddenly chose to remember about me.
"Hey square, where in the hell are you going?" yelled Jordan, tipsy as hell. She was looking for a fight. Me being sensible, I took a deep breath and told her,
"HEY..YOUR CAR IS BEING STOLEN!" She sprinted out the door, stumbling all the way. There was no one there except her friends. I'm glad she is going to be drunk somewhere else. I walked to the registration booth. The man smiled at me.
" 10:30 laser tag please," I said to the man behind the counter. He wrote my name down on the list, and sent me on my way. I had about 30 minutes to kill before my game. so , I being at a skate rink, strapped myself in for mindlessly wheeling myself around in circles. While sixteen year olds who think they can rap, played through the speakers. I went around a few times before going into my la la land again. I tried to figure out who that girl was.
She was very skinny, almost to the bone. Her hair was perfect. She had converse tennis shoes with a black shirt  with some song lyrics written on it. Black ripped jeans, and a red and black plaid jacket tied around her waist like it was middle school.
"Ten thirty laser tag, please meet at the entryway,"
I caught a glance at the only other competitor. It was her. I get assigned to the blue team. She must be on the red team. It was me against the brunette. The small tv above me plays a safety video that is so badly animated its funny. The gun beeped three times then a door opened releasing smoke from the room. I rushed in ready to win.
In this game if you get shot three times then you loose. I immediately was hit with her lazor. I don't know where from. I hid behind a corner hoping she lost track of me. About two minutes in to the game she somehow managed to shoot me through a small hole. She disappeared and I had no clue where she went. It is crazy how she can be at one spot then in point one seconds, completely vanish.
Five more minutes remaining and she has one more shot to make on me. Being careful is key. I dashed to a corner that was almost invisible. I looked around the corner to see if she saw me. Low and behold she is standing right there waiting for me.
" Now I've got you," she sneered. And before I had time to blink or fathom the fact she was there, she shoved me on the wall.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked while somehow feeling unable to move away from her. It was like she had black magic and she put me under her spell.
She didn't say anything. The brown haired wonder breathed in. Then she walked up to me and kissed me. I couldn't move away. Then she picks up her gun, points it at me and pulls the plastic trigger. "Game over," she paused," for now." Just like that she walked out of the room with absolutely no fucks given.
