I think destiny has it's strange ways of showing itself every now and then. I could have bumped into anyone that night; my father's ex-wife, old friends from school, anyone. but for some reason it just had to be Dante. The evening I deemed troubling turned out being quiet delightful. Dante made it very clear that he wasn't the same as before, and in some ways he was right, but as we talked, I was happy that his best things hadn't changed at all. We talked about pretty much everything: School, University, Work, Family; we even touched the Burteloni case, which was a great help because Dante knew someone we could talk to so I could start getting my story on the road. We talked about everything, but us. Half of me was relieved, I don't know what I would have answered or how I would have reacted if he claimed to know why I left him; But the other half, was kind of disappointed.
We exchanged numbers as we prepared to leave. As I extended my hand to shake his goodbye, a tight embrace caught me by surprise. He was warm, just like I remembered. My breath went heavy as his lips got close to my ear; I felt as if I was going to lose it.
- I missed you, a lot. Welcome back.-
I still hadn't grasped the whole situation until he began to walk away in the oppisite direction; The tender kiss he planted on my cheek burned. Every inch of me that he touched burned. After that, the memory of that night became blurry. I only remember seeing him in my dreams. Dreams that seeemed more like memories of our past.
I missed him too.
