5 months later…

Harley stood tapping her foot on the tiled floor, over and over, while her arms crossed her chest; hands clutching her elbows. She sighed letting her arms fall to the side of her while she stared at the back of the woman’s head; who stood tall in front of her. For once Harley woke up in the early hour, ten a.m.; being earlier than normal and decided to reward herself with coffee, which she hardly ever drank, due to tea being her guilty pleasure. As she stood waiting, her nose was empowered with numerous scents of coffee beans being mixed into delightful liquid and freshly warmed muffins, making her more impatient than what she already was. The line stretched through the Coffee Bean starting at the register and dragging out the door. Thankfully, she made it just in time before the midmorning rush of workers and students rushing to purchase their much needed morning caffeine. She began shuffling in her spot from side to side when her right pocket started buzzing, tingles rippling down her leg.

“Hey Thomas,” she smiled into the phone she held against her ear, “I’m still in line at CB,” she sighed. “That’s what happens when you wake up late for coffee, how long is it?” a chuckle rumbled on the other side of the cell phone. “Hey,” she pouted crossing her arms again, standing on her tiptoes to see beyond the woman ahead of hers’ head, “it was extremely early for me and probably six more.” The woman in front took a step forward, Harley following suit. “So are you calling me because I’m late?” Thomas chuckled again at the other end, “No, you’re actually early. Plus Anthony isn’t here yet, you know how he can be.” She smiled softly laughing, “definitely, if he wasn’t packing underneath his t-shirt I’d mistake him for a girl.” The other end was quiet for a moment and Harley could easily picture Thomas frowning at her on the other end; causing her to giggle. “Ha.Ha,” he mumbled into the receiver, “be at Joey’s soon, and you owe me coffee.” She furrowed her eyebrows at his request, “I don’t-” she replied, cut off by Thomas’ hanging out. Shaking her head she moved up in line, her gaze back on the woman in front of her.

“Hey! Sorry I’m late,” Harley said pushing herself into Joey’s house, hugging Tati in the process, “the line was long and it took forever for them to satisfy Thomas’ coffee request,” she smirked handing him his cup. Thomas shook his head, “it really isn’t that difficult.” Her right eyebrow raised, “yeah? Then make yourself cups.” Letting her bag fall next to the coffee table, she plopped down on the couch next to Joey looking around the room, “Anthony still isn’t here?” Joey chuckled, “Anthony being on time, yeah. With him and Eric together it’s impossible for them to be on time.” At the sound of Eric’s name leaving Joey’s lips Harley froze with her coffee hovering in front of her face. “Eric’s coming?” Thomas’ hand fell on her knee, giving it a small squeeze while he took a sip of his coffee, “yeah,” he mumbled into his cup. “Eric always goes to Coachella,” Joey looked at her with confused eyes, “remember?” Harley shook her head and chuckled, “yeah, I don’t know why I forgot.” Joey laughed leaning back into the couch with his feet up on the edge of the table, “of course you’d forget, you haven’t gone with us. It’s always us guys.” She sighed, placing her coffee on the table and grabbed her bagel in the process, “are you sure you don’t mind me going?” “No!” Thomas said while blending it with Joey’s “Not at all!” Harley smiled at the two boys and nodded her head then taking a bite of her bagel covered in cream cheese. “Besides, Tati is going,” Joey said, “right babe?” he yelled. A faint “yeah!” responded from the back bedroom. “Kendal too,” Thomas added, Harley smiling in response.

Joey stood with the door knob in hand, staring at the two standing on the door mat, who were giving him the big cheesiest grins. “About time,” he said prying the door open for them to walk through. “Hey hey,” Anthony put his hands up in defense, “not my fault, blame him” he pointed to Eric. “What? No!” Eric’s mouth fell open as he followed Anthony in, shoving his shoulder in the process. Anthony chuckled rubbing his shoulder, turning around raising his fist in the air as if he was going to punch his best friend. “Easy man,” Eric said ducking under Anthony’s hand before slapping his ass and running to the living room. “Hey guys!” Eric yelled sliding to a stop, his gaze feel onto the couch where Thomas sat next to Harley; Eric’s smile instantly falling, “what are you doing here?” She stared at him, her eyes drifting from his down to his tight jawline. “Hey Harley!” Anthony smiled walking passed Eric, oblivious to the tension Eric created. Anthony sat on the couch, squeezing himself in between Harley and Joey, “looking lovely as ever,” he smiled at Harley while a scoff came from Eric. “Why wouldn’t she be here?” Thomas stood returning the conversation to Eric, questioning him as he walked towards him. He bumped Eric’s shoulder as he passed him and tossed his empty coffee cup into the trash. “I thought it was just us guys,” Eric rolled his eyes, taking a seat on the stool scratching his chin. “No,” Joey replied before Thomas, “Tati is going to Coachella with us. We’re doing a group thing, and as you know, Harley is a part of our group.” Eric nodded looking at Harley, who sat still on the couch, her own gaze boring into his body. Her mouth opened as if she was about to say something before closing it right after. “Plus, I invited her,” Thomas smiled at Eric walking back to his seat on the couch.

“I don’t know Thomas,” Harley said flopping herself on her bed causing her duffle bag full of clothes to tumble over the edge. “Why?” he rolled his eyes while picking her bag off the floor; placing it on her desk. “Because,” she groaned rubbing her eyes with her hands pulling her skin down and rolling her eyes back, so all you could see was the white and red of her eye. “You’re sick,” Thomas laughed throwing a pillow at her. Harley giggled and sat up crossing her legs, “This better be worth it,” she sighed. He stared at her with wide eyes, “I’d be a horrible person if I let you miss out on Coachella, plus” he paused smiling, “your favorite band is performing, and how can you say no to Matt Healy?” he chuckled wiggling his eye brows up and down. Harley laughed smiling as she bit the bottom of her lip, “I really can’t.”
