I look out the window and see how the landscape changes from green grass and meadows of flowers to heavy traffic and sky scrapers. I've always wanted to live in New York I always thought I would do it when I was like 25 but never when I was 16, but sadly I can't control my mother's job opportunities.
"Beatrice, look at all the things you can take pictures of and draw." My mother says with a smile. "I know you didn't want to leave your friends behind, but you'll make new friends here. Plus, you have so much inspiration here for your art works."
I give her a small smile and take out my phone to take a picture of a big sky scraper. It is beautiful here, just so different from the small town I lived in before. Here there is a new type of lifestyle I'll have to adapt too.
"Your right. Maybe if we stay here long enough I'll be able to join one of the art universities in New York, they have so many." I put my phone back into my bag. "Are we arriving soon?"
Mum nods and I turn to look out the window once again. I'll get used to this place, I have to. I just have to find a place that feels safe and feels like home. Well whatever home feels like on that day.
We arrive in a small neighbourhood with decent sized houses enough for at least a family of six. Mum is always able to get the best housing and the best products but the price to pay is too much or at least it is according to me. I have never lived in one place for more than 2 years. Mums job requires her to move all over America, although the company enters me in the best schools and lets mum buy the best housing possible I never get the chance to make any true friends.
Mum stops in front of a big white modern house. Its full of windows and plants. I let it all get into my system; how hard can it be to live here for max 2 years. We step out of the car and mum lets out a happy sigh.
"Home sweet home!" Mum says and walks towards the front door.
She wears a pair of jeans, a dark blue blouse, white shoes and sunglasses on her chestnut hair. She gives me a happy smile and I see her hazel eyes sparkle. I follow her into the house, as we enter I realise that the hose is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. The stairs and the roof are both made out of glass.
"Your rooms upstairs. Everything should be unpacked like you wanted it." Mum says and walks towards the kitchen.
I take a deep breathe and walk up the stairs towards my room. Once I reach my room I open the door and everything in my room is exactly the way I left it in the other house, the people who moved out stuff really did do a good job. I grab my bag from my chair and put my sketch book and camera into it.
"Hey, don't forget school is tomorrow so no going out today." I hear mum shout from down the stairs. "I have a meeting tonight, so I won't be home until 10 o'clock. Order in some pizza or Asian food."
I let out a sigh and then a perfect idea comes to mind. I take the bag with me down the stairs and put it in the shoe closet. Mum comes walking from the kitchen and I give a fake smile, but I know she thinks it's real.
"Sorry there was no food in the fridge. What do you think of the house?" She asks.
"It's beautiful." I say.
"Well that's good to hear." She says and grabs her purse from the chair next to the door. "Please don't go to bed to late, you know that tomorrow is an important day. It's your only chance to make a good first impression and you know how important those are."
I give her a nod and she kiss me on the cheek. She walks towards the white car she had bought specifically for the New York vibe. I wave her good bye and as fast I can't see the car I grab my backpack from the closet and grab my long board from the garage.
I skate towards the biggest sky scraper I can see. As I reach it I step off the skate board and take out my camera to take a picture of it. Just as I take a picture something that looks like a man swings by using spider webs. I take a picture and realise that I have the person on photo.
"Look everyone. It's Spiderman!" Someone shouts in the street.
As everyone realises it's this "Spiderman" everyone starts waving and shouting his name. Two girls next to me start to giggle and take out their phones to post pictures on Instagram. They look at each other and giggle again.
"Isn't he so hot." One of the girls says.
"What do you think he is doing?" The other girl asks. "he is provably saving someone's life or something."
"Oh, he could save my life any day." The first girl says.
They giggle and walk away. Who is this Spiderman? I ask myself. He clearly is a big deal for the people of New York. I look at my camera and see the picture I have of him. Its perfect. It shows exactly how the spiderweb or whatever it is, is a part of him. His suit looks so well made and just like those girls said, he looks pretty hot.
I put my camera back in my bag and walk back home. When I arrive home I realise I haven't ate anything but I'm too tired to call so I go straight to bed and dream of the one and only mysterious Spiderman.
