Beyond the sky

"Call them. " Tsar said patting my back as we sat in a restaurant .

"Don't you think both my parents will get a heart attack when they come to know of our union ? " I quivered fiddling with my phone .

"But they have to be told about this . Come on , if you dared to marry me , you should have the dare to tell your parents about it ." He said circling his fingers around my knuckles .

It was already 9 pm . Usually I was home by 7 pm but today since we had  our court marriage without the knowledge of my parents , my parents would be hyper-ing about my absence at the dinner table . 

Tsar had already told his parents since they never had an objection , I was sure mine had so I never told them about Tsar .

I peeked up at Tsar and he gave me an assuring smile . I mustered up enough courage to dial my papa's phone number . My fingers were jiggling . 

"You can do this , my beautiful  wonderful amazing wife ." Tsar cheered me .

I placed the phone to my ears . The dialer tone and my heart beat sounded in unison .

"Kanu , Is that you ,child ? Where are you  ? Are you alright ? " My maa asked .Her question clearly should her concern as a mother . 

Tsar gestured me to speak .

"Maa , I am fine , everything's alright . " I paused .

" So ,why aren't you home  ? " She asked . " Is Kanu calling ? " I heard my father's voice in the background .

"Maa , I got married to Tsar ." I said in a rush .

And then there was silence .

"Hello , child where are you ? " this was my papa , my shocking revelation might have caused maa to hand the phone over to papa .

" Papa , I am with Tsar . I married him today ." I said more confidently  .

"But ..um did he force you ? " Papa asked and I couldn't help but smile . 

"No papa ,it is our joint decision ." I said .

"Child , you have a lot to tell now .Take care ." He said calmly as I heard whining in the background . My mother was crying . 

And then the call was ended .
