"I'm gonna say goodnight to my mom and get myself a bottle of water ok imma be right back. You want some thing?" I asked
" No" keyla replyed
"Ok" I said walking out the room
"Can you check if JJ is here? " she asked
"Yea whatever" I said
Keyla has always had a crush on JJ. I'm going to sound like a bad friend but I don't want to them dating. I don't want our friendship to change. That's why I'm glad he has a girlfriend. I ran up stairs into my mom's room.
As I looked around I noticed my moms laptop was open on a dating website. I didn't know how to feel about my mom dating someone, but I still thought it's was a little too early since its only been 2 and a half months since my dads passing and I didn't think she'd get over his death that quickly.
"O-oh Can you get out I'm gonna change?" she said shutting her laptop shut
" You're not dating or anything right?" I asked
"Girl get out it ain't your damn business " she said getting mad
"Are you or are you not?"
" Get out I'm not gonna tell you twice Veronica"
"Mom just answer the question" I said raising my voice
"Yes !!!" she yelled
"Why?"
"You and your brother are gonna go off to college and move out and I'm gonna stay in this big ass house all alone with no one to share it with"she said
"We're still here and you have Denise and why are you in such a hurry to get in a relationship anyway !!!?
"Get out....get out i'm not gonna tell you twice!!!!"she yelled
I left mad wanting my dad to be here to comfort me but I wasn't going to cry about it I was going to let it go and move on. I went down to the kitchen to get a snack and water it was so dark you couldn't see anything but I did want to turn on the lights.
"Big fight huh"said DeAndre in the corner of the kitchen eating cookies
"ughh youre so annoying and irritating-"
"What ma you got sum to say? He said getting closer to me
"oh what are YOU gonna do hit me" I said
"Maybe, maybe not"he said coming closer causing me to bump into the wall
"You know what back it up" I said pushing him away
"nah fuck that you seem to have a lot if shit to say ma say it "
I punched him in his stomach.
"Damn whatcho do that for? " he said holding his stomch
"You were getting to close"
I got my water and left .
The next morning
" Goodmorning Ma "said JJ
" Can I talk to you?" I asked
"Veronica you're gonna be late to school hurry up Keyla left to get ready she said she'll meet you at school" said my mom
I ran up stairs into DeAndre's room I needed a ride. I opened the door you see him putting on his shirt.
"Damn if you want to see the show just ask"he said smirking
"Whatever come on you're giving me a ride to school " I said smiling
When school ended I met up with Keyla and Briana while I waited for DeAndre to give me a ride home.
"Elijah's coming" said keyla
" Just ignore him" said Briana
"Aye Ma looking fine today"
"What??" I said rolling my eyes
"Let's go to chik-fil-a It doesn't need to be a date but you could make it into one" he said licking his lips
" I'm Good" I said turning around to my friends
"Come on you might have fun I'll treat you right not like Devon." he said
"No I have plans" I said
As soon as I turn around I felt an arm grab me tightly and turn me around aggressively.
" Man stop playing hard get-"
"Let her go or imma fuck you up" said a familiar voice
I turned and saw DeAndre and for a second I wondered why he cared so much. I realized what he had said was gonna get him an ass whooping.
"DeAndre just leave it alone please"
"I will when he takes his hands of you if not-" said DeAndre
"Or what whatcho gon do huh" said Elijah
I pulled my arm away from Elijah and grabbed DeAndre's hand and ran to the parking lot. We got in the car and drove away.
"Does he do that shit often?"he asked
"Yea but I just take it as him fucking around to much"
"Whats up with him and you?" he asked
" There is no me and him. He's always had a crush on me but when I started dating Devon my ex he seemed to get more and more desperate. Can you not mention the incident to my brother or mom? " I asked
" Ok"
We pulled into the drive way and before we got out I got the urge to asked him something else.
"Hey?"
"Yeah"
"Why did you protect me from Elijah?" I asked
"Because I-"he said
I did what I never thought I did I kissed him. I got up and went to my room speech less. I was really feeling him and I could tell he was feeling me.
Knock knock
"Come in" I said as soon as I said that I felt DeAndre grab my waist and kiss my neck
"Stop my mom could walk in" I said pushing him away
"Ok"
"Oh come on are you mad at me" I said grabbing his face
"No" he said pulling away
"Are you sure?" I said
"Mmhm"
"My mom or your mom is going to see us and we don't know how to react I don't want them to see"
"Already did" said a voice
