All Alone

It was a beautiful day outside, I was watching the birds gliding freely through the clouds. I could see the light green trees swaying side to side as well as the rustle of the leaves of the branches on each sway. I could feel the strong wind touching my smooth skin and drying up my lips. I could smell the delicious juicy jerk chicken and hot chunky chips. I was sitting on a yellow and white polka dot wooden chair, I realised I had been daydreaming the whole time taking in the beauty of nature. Dad was talking to his friends. I had nothing to do, there were no children and no board games. Nothing. I wanted to visit my friends house, but would Dad let me? It was worth a try, he wouldn't shout at me in front of his friends...I sat upright and thought about what I was going to say. I cleared my throat,

"Dad, could I go to Anna's house? There's nothing for me to do here, I'm feeling bored."

My heart jumped out of my chest at the thought of what he might do. Would he say yes? Or would he just shout at me?

"Yes you can go, but be sure to come back at 4."

He replied with an annoyed look on his face but I didn't care, relief filled my face and before my dad could see it I quickly ran to my room to get changed.

I wore a pink shirt with white ruffles covering the neck line and sleeves, with denim blue skinny jeans along with plain white trainers. I kept twisting and turning to check if my outfit was okay, I felt frustrated about what to wear but I didn't have enough time, Dad would probably come up to give me a quick slap. I put my short blonde hair into a high pony tail and headed out for the door. I came to a halt when I saw my dad climbing the stairs. I panicked and all I could hear was my heart thumping hard in my chest, I had no choice but to hide underneath the closest bed and pray he didn't try to look for me. I stayed under there until the coast was clear. I wiped the dust off my clothes and tightened my ponytail. I ran out the door, and walked the way to my friends house.

"Hey Anna, sorry I didn't warn you about coming to your house, I just had to get out!"

I said trying to catch my breath.

"Don't worry, did something happen?"

Anna asked concerned. I didn't reply, instead I just went through her plain white door and entered a short hallway with brown walls and pictures hanging on them. On the end of the hallway was another plain white door which opened up to a kitchen. I went up the wooden staircase and headed straight to Anna's purple bedroom. Disgust filled my face when I saw pictures of Justin Bieber stuck on all of the walls.

"I don't know why I'm still your BFF"

"Because I'm awesome and you love me"

Anna replied grinning. I rolled my eyes and headed towards her big kingsize bed which was covered with pink sheets and pillows that said 'Princess'. I sat down and moved my hand side to side feeling the freshly washed sheets under my hands. Anna joined me.

"What's wrong then?"

"He did it again.."

As I said this sentence tears were building up in my eyes and slowly rolled down my cheeks.

"Who did what again?"

Anna asked, wiping the tears off my wet face. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes and tried to force the words out of my mouth.

"My dad...he's still drinking. He said he would stop but he lied, ever since mum died he's had one of these mad moments where one minute he's fine and the next he goes mental..."

"Don't tell me he.."

I interrupted,

"No he didn't, he...tried to..."
