Morgana and Merlin raced through the empty corridors. The tapestries and shield hanging on the wall began to melt into one another, like oil on water, as their nervous eyes darted from left to right.

It was only when a duty bound knight or creaky council member crossed their path they fell into a relaxed looking conversation. Morgana quickly making the first move.

"Have you seen Arthur?" She'd say, or "I hope you aren't working too hard". Each remark punctuated with a carefree smile. Playing the dutiful ward that the kingdom knew and loved. Merlin, being his clumsy self, would struggle to keep up with her wide strides. He often found himself wondering how she was able to walk with such speed. Especially because most of her wardrobe was made up of tight fitting dresses. The ones that she was given as gifts, made to wear to impress suitors. Not that she wanted to. He had rarely seen her in trousers. Merlin's mind was now consumed with thoughts of Morgana. They all piled on top of one another, like, "how does she walk with such grace", " put up with Arthur?" and "how do I know so much about her wardrobe?".

"Merlin?" She called quizzically. His head was so far in the clouds he hadn't realised that Morgana had taken a sharp right. He looked back to see her poking her head from around a corner. Her eyes frantically searching for anyone watching them. The last thing she'd need right now was to be caught.

"Sorry my lady." He said shaking his head. His lips were quick to curl up at the edges forming his cheeky grin, I'm so used to going to Arthur's chambers!" She sighed, but couldn't help but smile.

They headed off again, down another passageway.
