|| Brynn's POV ||

I stare out at the ocean as the wind whips through my hair, the air fridged, my steaming tea being my only source of heat.

This morning the beach was completely deserted, leaving it to my lonesome self.

The sun was barely breaking the horizon so I knew it was almost home for me to go home.  I take a deep breath, closing my eyes to enjoy the moment of the waves breaking on the shore dampening my feet more.

I imagine my mother and father walking along the shoreline hand in hand, giggling to each other about finally being able to live their dream out of sailing the world. Them being happy for their daughter for finally going out to making something of herself. My dad stopping to pull out his camera so he could snap a photo of his wife, the wind blowing through her hair and her makeup free face having small dots of salt water here and there.

I opened my eyes being unable to let my thoughts give me false hope, glancing around to only find a seagull pecking at the sand near by. I finish the last drop of my tea before standing up and wiping the sand off my legs.

As I near the road where my car is parked, I hear a squeal from a little girl climbing out of a pick up truck. I watch her as she stares out before her at the ocean.

"Look mommy! The ocean!" she yells happily before running towards it, all while her mom calls out for her to come back and put on her coat.

A small smiles ghosts over my face as I watch the scene, I was once that little girl. Happy and free.

"Earth to Brynn." A hand waves in front of my face pulling me out of the trance.

"Sorry," I mumble, rubbing my hands over my hands. "Is my break over?"

"Actually your entire shift is over." Arden replies with a smirk.

"What do you mean?" I ask confused.

"Kathy is sending us home early since there is a storm moving in and it's suppose to be pretty bad."

Arden and I became friends while having to work many shifts together
at Kathy's, a seafood restaurant on Stedson pier, we both started working here 5 months ago sending us into an undying friendship.

"Oh, well we better help her board up the-"

"Shane is already taking care of it." I glance out the window to see Shane waving before putting a board on it then hearing a drill.

"Hurry home girls before the storm gets any closer." Kathy urges from behind the register counting money. Kathy was an old friend of my mom's since her daughter and mom grew up as basically sisters, after the accident she took me under her wing and gave me a job here to get back on my feet.

"Okay Kathy, be safe, see you tomorrow." I reply while standing up to go grab my things from the backroom. When I return Arden is standing by the door waiting for me.

We both make our way outside, waving a goodbye to Shane then climbing into her car.

"So since we're off early, do you want to head into the city? I already checked the weather and it's barely even going to hit there, we can stay at my brother's house." Adren asks running a hand through her hair. She knows I have a hatetred towards storms, ever since my parents...

"Why not." I sigh then give her a smile. I don't go out a lot, especially spend the night other places than my own. "But we have to stop at my apartment so I can grab my things."

She let's out a squeal of excitement.

"You won't regret this I promise."

I surely hope so.
