In the Hallway

Even in my prison there's a window to the world, to the rumours, to the fake smiles, to the profanities, to the beautiful, to the disheveled, and all the while there you are.

Beyond the daily hustle my eyes seek only, you. You quiet the noise, calm the chaos, filter the negativity, and emit a peaceful aura. It has me yearning for an embrace never felt.

However, to my dismay, there's an underlying message on the window which reads: "look but do not touch". Every fiber of my being wishes you'd set that note ablaze, break through the glass & guide your fingers through my soul.

Although chained, I'm captured by you. A freedom, a privilege, a lust or dare I say, a love never to be allowed to fly. Let the earth unfold & throw my body into it's depths. Ground it, for it is dirt. My purpose is to serve & so I shall.
