Hell's Gate

Prologue

There was a time when magical creatures and the human race lived and confided in each other. (It was thought to be around 1200 A.D. , but scientists aren't sure now.) They were a natural part of their lives. In basic needs and affection they got along well.

Some humans abused the creatures, but the cases were not attended to.

After hundreds of years of living side-by-side, mutant creatures made of dark magic and consumed by anger and grief, began arriving in the Fairy Realm.

At first, there were few, but just in weeks the dark creatures had swarmed the lands and began targeting portals that separated the human world and the Fairy Realm. Most portals started closing as the astral matter of the portals engulfed whatever dark magic tried to get through.

The humans were safe for the moment, but the Fairy Realm was starting to change itself. Some of the areas that were affected were changing and mutating. In gardens and villages, there was a dark aura that loomed, intimidating any visitors.

The king of one kingdom sent an army of 500 soldiers to seek and fight the monsters, along with an army of centaurs.

After three weeks, around 100 human soldiers came back, 87 wounded.

Some humans were prodded to react to the situation more strongly to the situation.

At one point they finally came to conclusion. Instead of helping the creatures in the Fairy Realm, they were going to find a way to temporarily close off the portals to procure the safety of the humans. Most of the people didn't agree with the decision. The kings of many kingdoms concurred, saying they had no other choice.

The fairy creatures were enraged at the conclusion the humans had come to. But the council had said that the correct choice was to calmly ask for supplies to at least help the fairies.

The kingdoms sent supplies, but it wasn't enough as many were poor. The fairies were not advancing in winning against the dark creatures.

In the meantime human scientists found information that focused on the genes of humans. If they were altered in a specific way it would make contact with the portals physically impossible.

The human kingdoms reached a final conclusion. They would take all the humans that lived in any establishment and any other human they found and alter their genes so that will not be able to have contact with the portals.

The Fairy Realm finally fought hard enough to push back the creatures. Since then, they have been at war for centuries, no one winning nor losing.

Back in the human world, there are still humans who have a genetic ability to see the portals, from a generation that had not had their genes altered. They have been called the 'dark ones' who can see the supernatural.

The humans have said that any contact with the dark magic, has a chance of mutating into a dark creature, as they've found humans that came back from the portals morphed into twisted, dark forms.

These portals have been paths to the darkness and are called "Hell's Gates".

This is the prologue! It might be a little long but I hope you like it. *^* I don't know if this will be the light novel adaptation or the original. Because I am making a manga called "Hell's Gate" with the same storyline. But in the manga the prologue is revealed later, soo... Idk
