The Ice Princess
Chapter 1:
The Bates academy is a private school for the privileged, known for harnessing the talent of budding geniuses and the children of tycoons who are to inherit their multimillionaire companies.
The school's conduct was mostly monitored by the student council which comprised of the students themselves, to develop their leadership skills and teach them how to guide and solve disputes by themselves. Yuri Davis was the President of the Council and very infamously known as the 'Ice Princess'.
As she walked through the corridors to her class, she felt the eyes of the other students on her, whispering about how she had dumped her boyfriend, who they believed was the only person who could stand her.
"I don't understand how Finn was with her for so long. She's so prude," the voice belonged to Melinda Campbell, the future heir to Campbell tyres, the famous company that exported their gold standard tyres to the whole world. Rumour has it that even the Queen of England herself would use their tyres for her carriages.
She whipped her head back to stare into Melinda's surprised brown eyes and was about to open her mouth to retort when she felt a hand at her side and whisper into her ear, "Ignore her, it'll ruin your image." She nods stiffly and continues to walk to her class with her best friend Avery beside her, the only loyal person she has in this school full of obnoxious and spoiled rich brats.
Yuri Davis was the Student Body President always topped her classes and was the youngest ever ballerina to star in the lead of Swan lake, the popular role that many were envious of and dreamed of dancing. The recital was next week and she had to concentrate and do her very best as many college recruiters would be there, including the Julliard school of Dance and she couldn't afford to mess up her chance at a fully paid scholarship. Unlike her peers, Yuri had no filthy rich family, nor did she bathe herself in money. Her parents were normal people and she attended school on a scholarship and always made sure she was ranked first in school.
The Vice-president -Finn Russel was her boyfriend, now, ex boyfriend who was always ranked second, and being the son of the school's chairman, his influence on the school was great.
They made quite a pair, and she believed nothing would change, until a few days back.
"People say what they believe happened, they enjoy making things up," Avery says when they reach the council room, her blue eyes filled with concern as she stares at her friend who looks strong, but is crumbling on the inside. "You should take more care of yourself, have you eaten anything yet?" She asks and Yuri shakes her head.
"For the leader of this school, taking care of your health comes first. How many times have I caught you skipping meals? No wonder you're so skinny," she tsks as she swifty walks to the small kettle that they have in the council room and stirs a hot cup of warm cocoa for her with two marshmallows. Some would believe that with her personality she acquired a taste for bitter drinks like black tea and coffee, but secretly she loved sweets and everything sugary.
"Thank you," she whispers as her best friend places the cup into her slightly trembling hands. "It's delicious."
"Well, then you could give me a smile then." Avery complains, looking at her blank, sullen expression. "Hey, don't glare at me like Baba Yaga! I forgot how weird you look when you smile."
