a blissful dimpled smile was fixed on the young witches face. he had finally perfected the spell of rejuvenation, renovatio. he had been practicing on old fruits and vegetables for the past week and finally he had made an rotten apple bounce back to a beautiful red, a color as vibrant as loves blush
he took a big bite of the fresh apple, it's juiciness captivating his tongue, he wondered if the rejuvenation spell has something to do with the heavenly taste
he was almost a hundred percent sure this was the best apple he'd ever tasted, just lovely
things were truly looking up for the young man, after finally moving out of his mothers house he felt more independent, she wasn't there to coddle him anymore he was on his own
she of course still sent him allowance though, which he begrudgingly accepted, he sweared on the life of his familiar, boba, that as soon as he got a job he would make her stop
he'd pay for his own rent, his own bills, his own food
but to be honest he hasn't looked for a job yet, he doesn't know where to start, he needs something flexible that won't interfere too much with his studying of herbal medicine and practicing of spells
he continued to munch on the apple, when he surprisingly got a call from his aunt jessi
"this is strange, she rarely calls" he said to himself, swiping the answer button
"joonie! baby!" the loud, and comforting raspiness of her voice flooded his senses
his aunt always had this calming affect about her, maybe it was her attitude or just her aura period
"hey aunt jessi, what's the occasion"
"well i was talking to your moms and she said your looking for work..."
"well she ain't lying, im trying to be less dependent on her"
"perfect baby, cause i got a job for you, my shop continues to be busy busy busy and ive been thinking about hiring help, but i couldn't just hire anybody i need someone i can trust, someone with a lot of potential, so.. would you my dear nephew, like to be my assistant "
was he hearing this right, this was to perfect, not only did this opportunity come at the right time but he'd get to work at the place of his childhood
mysticum pulchritudo, the world renowned magic shop
ghouls and creatures of all kinds came there, for his aunt jessi is a powerful old witch just like his mother, people would jump at the chance to be seen by her for readings or to buy her charms and potions, people payed hefty fees for things involving hexes and curses
let's just say his aunty lives prosperously
when he was younger and his mom was busy with urgent coven business she'd drop him off at the shop to be watched by jessi, he remembers reading in the back room of the shop, jessi's familiar, momo, would monitor him while jessi was with a client or just working the register
he recalls getting in trouble for touching things and breaking them, once he broke an antique snow globe and inside was a japanese spirit, the snow woman, yuki onna, she had long black hair, a beautiful young face, her skin was so pale it seemed translucent, the tall woman wore a thin white kimono and had a dead look on her face
he almost peed himself, that day he caused a lot of trouble for his aunty, "do you know how hard it was to trap that sly, no foot print leaving, pasty bitch?!"
he wasn't allowed back at the shop for a month and had to be watched by his old women neighbors, the graeae, it was the worst, they talked his head off and fed him old candy, plus it was gross seeing them pass around one eye ball and one tooth between each other
he'd definitely learned his lesson
"seriously aunty?"
"dead serious baby cakes"
"fuck yes, when can i start?"
"hmm..how about now"
