a oneshot where a servant boy spills breakfast all over the prince of talia

word count: 10,836 (pretty sure this is the longest oneshot i've written)

triggers: homophobia

Jacob woke up with a knee pressing hard into his hip and a cold breath fanning over his exposed neck. He shivered and sat up, pushing the girl he's always known as Hari, a little further away from him. Hari, to him, would never be more than a friend even though they were- soon to be mated?

Yeah. Soon to be married. Jacob smiled a little and laid back down, looking at the ceiling as he let his eyes slide shut, slowly allowing himself to fall back into a peaceful sleep.

Until Hari let out the loudest fucking snore.

Jacob opened his eyes, blinking slowly before he rolled his eyes and turned his back towards her. He tried to let his mind drift back into the dream state that it had been in before. But the action was once again interrupted by another snore. This was going to be Jacob's future, and he wasn't exactly excited.

So much for just trying to sleep.

When he heard another snore, one more dragged out than the others he turned back around and pushed the girl off the bed, making her roll down onto the plush carpet. Much to his surprise, she stayed asleep.

"Godammit Hari, Wake up!" he yelled. The blonde shifted a little before opening her eyes and turning her head towards her fiancée.

"What the hell Jacob!" she exclaimed.

"You snore like a fucking elephant. Can you turn down- actually can you turn off your volume, please? Are you trying to wake everyone up? Keep your voice and obnoxiously loud snores down," he grumbled tiredly while Hari let out a sigh before crawling back under the sheet with the dark-haired boy.

Jacob tried to fall back asleep but he couldn't. His mind was filled with thoughts. Millions of thoughts ran through his head, making a small headache appear. With a groan he let his head sink further into his pillow, so the soft material pressed against his ears. He groaned again making Hari stir next to him. She looked over at him with a frown then offered to make a servant bring them their breakfast early and in bed, which he quietly agreed to.

Troye walked into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes with a tired yawn. Another day filled with serving people who were probably horrified by his appearance. Though the royal's thoughts or opinions never managed to change his mind on the one he had his eyes on, who is the prince himself, Jacob. He didn't bother to check the time while he poured himself a cup of water then dropped it as soon as a bell rung through the quiet room. The sign just above the little bell that had given him a shock read 'Jacob Bixenman'. The prince wanted his breakfast, and Troye was the only one awake to serve him.

He let out a shaky breath and made his way over to where the cook was setting up his food, ignoring the water and the cup that he had dropped on the floor. "Prince Jacob wants his breakfast now," he mumbled just loud enough for the cook to hear. "Here," said the cook while handing him a tray with two plates, both of them practically overflowing with food. With sweaty hands, Troye took the plates and bowed his head for the cook as a silent thank you. Why he thanked him? God knows.
