Chapter 2

Aaron's Point Of View

"So did you guys just meet or what?" I ask as he sits on her bed smirking.
"Wouldn't you like to know." He asks.
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to know now would I have?" I say.
"Okay then, we met earlier today when she stole a journal from the government library." He said. What no way she would have stolen a book. From a government library at that. She wouldn't. Oh yeah she texted me saying she was looking for a journal. "It's probably still in her bag." He says pointing to the bag on her desk. I walk over and open it and pull out a red leather journal and look at the cover.
"Are you sure you should be goin through her things?" He asks smirking.
"She won't mind." I say opening the book. "So this is the book she was looking for" I say aloud forgetting Kamren was there.
"How long have you known Octavia?" Kamren asks me.
"Five years why?" I say putting the book down on her desk.
"Ouch, and how long have you liked her??" He asked me.
"I've liked her for two months the way you're referring to." I answer him.
"Wow. No hesitation. You aren't the way I expected you to be. I expected you to get in my face." He says
"I would have but it's pretty obvious to me she wants nothing to do with you." I say as calmly as I can.
"When do you plan to ask her out?" He asks me.
"That isn't really your business to be perfectly honest here. And I don't need to ask her on a date. I just going to ask her to be my girlfriend soon." I say
"You should do it when she gets back up here." He says
"Um, no I shouldn't, I want to ask her when she is more comfortable." I say. "I can tell she isn't really comfortable right now. I mean she HATES wearing skirts and dresses."
"Okay but we will be working together so I just want to see who her possible husband could be." Kamren says.
"I would be her first boyfriend so I doubt I would be her last." I respond back.
"So you really are confident she would say yes?" Kamren asks. Octavia walks in.
"Yes to what?" Octavia asks looking at me.
"Aaron over here was telling me" he begins saying.
"I was wondering if you wanted to move up movie night from Friday to Thursday because I have a doctors appointment Friday. Heh yeah." I say cutting him off.
"Oh yeah that's fine." Octavia says. Wow okay I can't believe I saved that.
"You guys have regular movie nights on Fridays?" Kamren asks Octavia.
"Yeah." She says to him.
"Could I maybe join this time??" Kamren asked smirking looking at me.
"Um, what do you think Aaron?" Octavia asks me. Ugh why is he trying to tag along.
"Sure, I guess. You guys need to be buddy buddy right?" I say.
"Okay. We can just have movie night here then around six, the usuals time." Octavia says. I smile at her weakly. What are his motives?
I see Octavia look at her desk and see that I found the book. Kamren smiles. Octavia sighs. "So Kamren told you how me and him met I'm guessing?" She asks me.
"Yeah. About that why did you steal the book though?" I asked her a softly.
"The checkout machine said the book was not in the system so I figured no one would miss it. Then Kamren saw me when I slipped it in my bag. It's the eighth journal and like I told you before for some reason my family didn't have it even though it is legally mine." Octavia told me sitting in her desk chair. That is weird.
"Foods done, come down kids." Octavia's mom calls out from down stairs. We head down.
"Hi I'm Aaron Hughes" I introduce myself to Kamren's parents. "I'm a friend of Octavia's." I continued.
"I'm Mrs.Lee" his mom told me.
"Ahh Hughes. Third most important family in Eastcliff. It's a pleasure to meet you young man. Call me Mr. Lee." Kamren's Father tells me. We all take a seat at the table. Last names mean everything now a days. That's why everyone either gos by their last name or includes their last name when meeting someone new. In fact in school we only go by our last names unless we have siblings then it would be a little different. Like I would be referred to as Mister Hughes instead of just Hughes because I have a sister who gos to the same school as me. If she was still in middle school I would just be called Hughes.
"This looks really good Mrs.Crimson." I say to Octavia's mom.
"Thank you Aaron. Let's dig in." Octavia's mom says.
"So Aaron, what does your family do??" Kamren asks me.
"Well my family does exactly what the Crimson company does. Though my families company is not partners nor do they work with the Crimson company we pretty much do the same thing. It's a little different just like your family company but not to far of. Also the Crimson company is number one in the industry. Second is the Lee company and third is the Hughes. When I become owner of my family company I do wish to join the partner ship of the Crimson and Lee companies but I would understand if I was turned down." I say.
"Wow, you already have some plans in advancing your family company?? Kamren, you could learn a thing or two from this kid." Mr.Lee says. Kamren glares at me.
"So would you two take Aaron up in his offer?" Mrs.Lee asks Octavia and Kamren.
"I would but I am probably bias because he is my best friend." Octavia says.
"Octavia knows him well and I think she'd have good judgment on him. I'd be for it." Kamren says. I was not expecting a yes from Kamren.
