the results for our recent math test came out and to my surprise, i had come first. and not to my surprise, you came last... again... for the third time in a row. i sat right next to you so i felt you kick the leg of the table gently out of frustration and you leaned back into your chair.
"you okay?" haneul asked.
"if i fail math again i'm going to get kicked off the soccer team..." jinyoung huffed, running his hand through his hair.
"i can tutor you, if you like?" haneul offered without hesitating.
"you would do that?" jinyoung asked.
"why not? you're clearly in need of some help. i wouldn't mind." haneul smiled. "we can just study after school in the library."
"you don't know how much this means to me!" jinyoung cheered showing off his beautiful smile. "thank you so much."
"no problem."
"can we start today?" jinyoung eagerly asked. "i need a lot of help."
haneul chuckled as the bell rung for the end of the period.
"sure."
we met after school and you had brought along some warm coffee cans. i was more than happy to study into the night with you since i didn't really like going home anyways. since the next topic test was the week after, i tried to explain everything as clearly and quickly as i could go you. you listened carefully and followed the formula very well.
it was already 6pm and the school library usually closed at 7pm so we decided to finish up and head home. it was a thursday night, so i knew my father wasn't home. he was always out doing his "work"... or whatever he was doing. you offered to walk me home as it was getting dark and i accepted your offer gratefully. we talked about our class, our moody teacher and you asked me how school was since i'm still know as the 'new girl'.
and then you asked me about jihoon.
"you don't mind if i asked what happened between you and jihoon?" jinyoung asked haneul.
"um... i guess not. what were you curious about?" haneul replied.
"n-nothing! it's just that— i won't treat you differently because you're gay. that is, if you are gay." jinyoung said in a soft voice. "i didn't really believe it and i still don't believe it now."
"and why is that, bae jinyoung-ssi?" haneul asked with a small smirk, wondering what he had to say.
"because when anyone would see you with jihoon, there was always a pink tint on your cheeks. you were always lively and bubbly around him... i'm pretty sure you've called him 'oppa' a couple of times." jinyoung explained. "if you're a lesbian like he said you are... you would've acted differently, no?"
