User1: me lmao

User2: vegans am i right

Timothée wasn't sitting in his window anymore, he managed to go downstairs, and even poured himself a bowl of cereal. As he was eating, he was scrolling through social media, which he didn't really enjoy. It always reminded him how alone he was all the time, just spending his high school years locked inside his home, while others his age were out all the time, making memories. He wanted to go out, he wanted to do the things others were doing, he just felt like he was chained down to his house, a safe place.

He was just scrolling, barely paying attention to the photos he was looking at, when a new post from Mya has popped up. Timmy's first thought was, that he has been right earlier. Even in this picture he could see, Mya didn't seem as happy as she usually is. Of course she was posing, but her eyes, which Timothée couldn't stop staring at, seemed sad. Without thinking much about it, he went into her dms.

Hey!

As soon as he hit send, a wave of regret washed over him. What the hell was that? Why would she want to talk to him, they haven't spoke to eachother in weeks, her friends probably even told her to stay away from him, the weird kid, who had no friends. Why did he do that? He threw his phone on the couch, and went to the kitchen, walking from one corner to another, feeling the anxiety taking over his body. She must be laughing right now, sending screenshots to some stupid groupchat, and now everyone is talking about how hilarious it is that it even crossed his mind to talk to the cool, foreign girl. He was about to go up to his room, lock the door and try to sleep, so at least for a couple hours he doesn't have to think about how pathetic he is, when his phone beeped. Timmy quickly ran to the couch, and opened the message.

MyaAdelheid

Hi! What's up?

He felt calmer for a second, but then a new wave of questions came running through his head. What if she finds him annoying, and she just answered to be nice? What if she is waiting for a response just to make fun of him?

- She's not like that – he whispered to himself, taking a big breath.

Tchalamet

How are you? You seemed a bit sad this morning, everythings alright?

He put his phone on the kitchen table, and sat down, just staring at it. If he doesn't fuck this up he might make a friend. It would make his mom so happy. It would make him so happy.

MyaAdelheid

Yeah everythings okay, i just get a little homesick sometimes, that's all haha

Haha? Oh my god, she totally thinks he is a loser, why did he even try? The phone beeped again.

MyaAdelheid

You're really sweet, thanks for asking btw. What about you? Is your Saturday better than mine?

No, his day is awful, but he can't just say he is super depressed at the beginning of a conversation with someone who could be his new and only friend.

Tchalamet

Not having the best day either haha

He hoped he used the haha right. He never texted anyone, expect his mother and sometimes Caleb when he was asking for homework, but that's all. Timothée was afraid she would ask why his day was not good, so he quickly started typing again.

Tchalamet

I'm home by myself, totally boring...

As he sent it he realised he just made himself look even more lame, but there was nothing he could do about it now. She read the message and started typing.

MyaAdelheid

I'm about to be home alone too i guess. Jeff and Kate are going hiking but i'm really not in the mood today. Just want to stay in, maybe watch some movies idk

They started talking about what kind of movies they like, which then led to other topics, and Timothée realised they've been texting for over an hour. By now he wasn't nervous at all, he felt comfortable talking to her, the conversation cheered him up, eventhough when he woke up that morning, he felt like he would never be able to not feel like dying.
