"Those damn brats don't know whats coming to them!"
Bursting into Sebs empty classroom, I can't help but let it out, even though he seems to have no idea what on earth I'm going on about. I really need a strong drink right about now.
"Love, I'm sure if you just mind your business and get along with this situation they will certainly leave you alone," he puts gently. If only he knew.
"That's where you're wrong Mr. Rowe," despite his wince at me using his teacher title, I carry on.
"I been here for about 10 minutes now and what those wolves have done would even get your blood boiling. One of them even had the audacity to kiss me. He kissed me, Sebastian. And not a little peck either, a full-on kiss. If their Alpha doesn't do something about this I'm going to start breaking necks I swear to-"
"Okay, okay, okay, calm down Dru. Come here, its gonna be okay."
Pulling me in for a hug, I didn't even know I was hyperventilating. I hate being so weak, especially when I need to be strong in front of these overgrown children. I don't think its even what they've done that's got me so worked up, it's more so the feeling of being a pariah in the middle of a situation where I'm left vulnerable. I still haven't recovered from what I went through in the war, and I don't think I ever will if I'm honest.
Our embrace is quickly broken by an angry Alpha Sinclair bursting through the classroom doors, making me jump and Seb instinctively push me behind him.
"Meeting. Now." He grinds out.
And with that, he stiffly turns on his heels and walks out, obviously he expects us to follow him, and I guess we don't have much choice but to; which we do with haste.
Walking down the crowded hallway full of students and teachers alike, we get the usual stares I've been getting since I set foot in the place. However, those curious and perhaps scared stares are accompanied by questioning glances at our intertwined hands.
When Sebastian was allowed to be a teacher at this school, only the higher-ups were privy to the knowledge of his "traitor" status, or even that he was involved in the war that tore our species apart. None of the faculty knew except for the principal and the deputy who had to confirm his teaching position.
Guess the cats out of the bag.
I would have thought that was something Alpha Sinclair would want to keep heavily under wraps but he looks unfazed by the blatant stares and whispers that follow as we travel towards the ominous meeting place. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't notice at all, I'd never seen him so weighed down and tense, almost angry. Probably just annoyed at my methods of self-defense against his pack members.
Finally coming to a turn into a room labeled 'Principals Office,' we enter to see the Principal herself, Alpha Sinclairs second in command, a couple other council members, and lastly, that mutt who thought it funny to kiss me. Unsurprisingly, I'm met with accusatory stares as I strut in, letting go of Seb's hand and crossing my arms defensively.
"Whats this about?" Seb asks pensively, obviously concerned about how we're about to be punished for my step out of line.
"Mr. Rowe doesn't need to be in here dad," that mutt says, ignoring my husband's question and dismissing him altogether. I didn't think it possible for me to hate him more.
"Shut up Alexander! Let me handle this." Right. So the mutt's Alpha Sinclairs offspring. Now the subject of his ill manners are a bit more understandable; yet still not forgiven.
"Well, what is there to handle Alpha Sinclair? I don't believe we have done anything wrong, and all this meeting has achieved so far is letting slip of our status," he puts diplomatically as he gestures between us.
"To hell with that! We have more pressing issues. Issues about the case of Mrs. Drusilla's heritage" interrupts the pack Beta.
What on earth was he talking about with my heritage? What is this meeting supposed to be about? Before I could voice my confusion, Principal Baxter raises from her position leaning against her desk and strides forward to where Sebastian and I are standing. I've never had the displeasure of being acquainted with Mrs. Baxter but I've heard enough stories to be wary of her.
"Lets cut to the chase, shall we? You two are playing some sort of trick on us I know it, there's a good reason I didn't want these abominations in my school and now look at how they repay you for your generosity. I won't have it. It was bad enough having Mr. Rowe on my staff but now you missy," pointing her finger at me while I raise my eyebrow, "have crossed the line."
I don't take kindly to being verbally assaulted by this intolerant wench, no matter her position of power, she really needs to be taken down a peg. Focusing on the people around the office, I realize I'm currently the center of attention with everyone else gone silent.
"Well, this conversation has gone swimmingly so far but I would like to interject with my own point, if I may?"
Alpha Sinclair sends me a stiff nod. How kind of him. So taking a deep breath, I hold myself back from acting immature and thus embarrassing myself in front of these entitled pricks.
"So, first of all, I haven't yet said a word as I have set foot in this office so I am confused as to why you must resort to throwing insults, Mrs. Baxter. I would think it incredibly unprofessional on your account and following this meeting I request an apology for speaking out of turn,"
Smirking at her, I can see her blood boiling in her veins. I could care less about an apology, but it is fun seeing her so distressed.
"Secondly, I would think if any anger was to be directed towards anyone in this meeting, it would be your son Alpha Sinclair. Not 20 minutes ago I was attacked by the first group of wolves who attempted to douse me with slushie - unprovoked I might add - and then after, I was kissed by your son. I was under the impression that if I agreed to attend this school, I would not be victim to attack by anyone, and now your own son has joined in with assaulting me before the school day has even begun.
"And lastly, I would like to inquire with anyone who can answer my question of why in the world I am being questioned about my heritage of all things? Anyone at all?"
However, my confidence is eradicated in a second with the Alpha stepping towards me only more angry than before.
"What I would like to know Drucilla, is why my son's wolf has bonded with you. I would be impossible for a werewolf to be mated to anyone other than another wolf, so my question is clear, where you born a wolf?"
Oh. Well, that's not good.
