Later in the afternoon, I found myself joining a friend up in the mountains. He was holding some form of fourth of July party if you'd even call it that. It was more of drinks, music, and a small bonfire. A few other people were hanging around the site talking and already drinking no matter how early in the day it was. I shook my head setting myself away from the crowd, I'm around enough people when I work at my family's coffee house. The only reason I was here was for two reasons. One, due to the fact if I had a reputation to uphold with not being an antisocial dick like I used to be back in high school and two: it gave me the 'chance' to find my soulmate. I've dreamed of finding her for years now, I just hope someday soon I will find her. Who knows maybe she will appear just like my mother said, an unexpected way that will surely blow me off my feet.

"Leo, man!" A voice yelled out. "Long time no see! How ya been buddy?"

I stood tall meeting hands with an old friend who I haven't seen much of since high school let out nearly six years ago. "I've been good, man, you?"

"Been doing great." He grinned at me. "Plan on proposing to the girl I've been with since high school." Ah, his soulmate. He found her early on. "But hey, I heard you took over the coffee shop from your dad. How's that going?"

"Yeah, I did, and it's been going well," I answered with a wide grin, that store was my prized possession. It has been passed down for the last three generations now, I loved the coffee house. "Been running it for a little over two years now."

"Sweet, need to stop by one day with the soulmate and check it out." He beamed at me just at the mention of his other half. "By the way, you found yours yet?"

"No," I shook my head in a mumble looking around suddenly at the slight tug around my ankle. The weight to the string vanished as if it never existed, was she here somewhere?

He chuckled softly patting my shoulder as if he knew just by the look on my face. He just backed away from me with a "Good luck bro." before I went into a wild search, my eyes scanning the site around me. Where was she? I sighed heavily. It was going to be hard trying to find her amongst all these people but at this rate, I was determined to find her. Hopefully, she was looking for me too.

I walked a step forward and the string around my ankle stopped me from moving, it was like the weight was back on my ankle keeping me from going in this direction. Does that mean she's closer than I thought? Was she behind me? Just follow the string, it will lead you right to her. It was a thought that was playing over and over in my head. And so, I did what I thought best, I turned to follow my string but what shocked me the most was that it looped around the ankle of someone I least expected. There sitting in a chair with his arm propped up against the back of his chair as he looked back, I found my soulmate was the guy from earlier. The one who I meet because he was helping a friend move causing so much noise. He too was following the string, our eyes locking the moment we saw the other.

"You," I whispered.

"Just my fucking luck." He laughed bitterly. "And here I thought I'd get some cute ass babe."

My heart buckled under his words even as I spoke out. "Sorry to disappoint you there lover boy but it's not like you weren't the only one expecting someone else. You're not my cup of tea either."

Another bitter laugh left his lips as he stood to walk over to me. His body hovering inches above my own as his stormy grey eyes glared down at me. "Don't think this will go anywhere, soulmate."

"Fine by me prick," I answered back crossing my arms over my chest as I took a step away from him. I wasn't into men, but to say I wasn't attracted to him right now would be a lie. Maybe somewhere along the lines I always knew life would screw me over and pair me up with another male. Guess this was life shooting me a big 'fuck you' sign.

"What did you just call me?" He growled loosely.

"I called you a damn prick," I growled back at him. "Why, you wanna go run off crying for mommy? All you are is an egotistical prick who's too lazy to jump off his high horse and except that life screwed him over just like it did his soulmate."

He grabbed the front of my shirt. "Say that again you little bitch and let's see what happens."

I smirked lazily up at him as I spoke the words he dreaded the most, the words he just dared me to say. "You're a damn prick you egotistical dick." I hadn't even finished speaking before I saw him move fast. One punch to the gut and two more to my face had me stumbling back and down for the count. I was on my ass now staring up at him with fury burning through my veins, but I never was one for violence. He was about to turn his back to me when I lost it, my laughter filling the air as I yelled out at him. "Hey, prick is that the best you can do?"

He spun on me just as I pulled myself up off the ground to stand and within seconds I was back on the ground with this guy hovering over me, his swinging a never-ending loop of pain.

"Ravi!" The friend I had been talking to earlier about the shop and soulmates, yelled at the man who was relentless with his throws. "Get off of him, man, dammit!"

The punching stopped suddenly and when my eyes focused to see everyone around me, I saw why the punching stopped. I saw at least three people holding this Ravi guy back. I stood up tall, my eyes locking with his as I walked my way over to him.

"Consider yourself dead to me," I said in a deadly calm before walking away from him but not before seeing the hurt expression cross over his angered featured face.
