Chapter four

We lay awake together as we hear winter sneaking back into the house , we know it's her because she can never control herself when trying to keep quiet. I would say she has falling about ten times since her arrival. Such a klutz.

I love my daughter with all of my heart but the way her mother is raging right now , all I can do is pray for her. I try not to be hard on them and that's was working but now that winter is actually sneaking around is something we will not tolerate , of course I just wanted to caught her in the act and find out where she went off too but Autumn had different plans.

"It's five o' clock in the morning!" She whisper shouted to me , I could hear the anger dripping from her voice and I didn't know how to stop it. She's of course my wife and my best friend but no one can underestimate the power of a mother.

"Let's just get some rest we have to be up in a few hours" I pulled her waist so that she was pressed against my chest.

Waking up in bed alone is not what I expected so I got up and went downstairs to see my family actively running around.

"Dad? Why aren't you at work?" Summer was the first to spot me from the stairway , I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle from the refrigerator.

"Didn't feel like going into work today" I simply said , I thought she was angry at me anyway.

"Listen dad, can we talk?" I nodded my head yes but didn't go to far just in case I have to have Autumn.

Summer stood in front of me with a pouty face. I knew she was sad about something, I just didn't know what exactly.

"I'm sorry for the way I , myself, acted yesterday. You came home and your family wasn't there to greet or acknowledge your presence when we do it every day, we were all distracted by Ben and that was also wrong because I would never let a boy come before you dad , I love you and i hope you can forgive me" I wanted to tear up at my babygirl's apology but I refrained from doing so.

I instead pulled her into a bone crushing hug and told her she was already forgiving before the apology, usually Winter would be right by her side doing the same thing but something about this morning was different and that being winter. I kissed the side of summer's head and walked us back into the kitchen where everyone else was.

Autumn looked at me with concern but I nooses my head and gave her a slight smile telling her that we're okay.

"So winter , do you have anything to say to your father?" Autumn asked , winter looked up from her bagels and furrowed her eyebrows.

"What do you mean?" She asked , I could hear the shakiness in her voice but her facial expression was solid.

"You know , mom came into your room to help you understand how dad felt. Where's apology?" Summer nudged her sister side. Winters face went pale as she looked back and forth between me and autumn both.

"I c-can explain-"

"Can you explain winter, because I'm lost, I know that my daughter would never sneak out of the house because she would have let me know she was going somewhere instead of worrying us and coming home at five in the morning" Autumn's voice rose with every word she spoke. Winter stuttered to say something so I took it upon myself to interfere.

"Autumn, kitten, why don't we just hear her out I know she'd have a good enough reason to do it so before we be to hard on her let her tell her side" Autumn gave me a death glare and moved past me.

"Winter, I'm still waiting for my answer. Why would you sneak out , we are lenient parents until you show us that we aren't but now that you have showed us that you cannot be trusted I'm going to solve that. Your grounded , no phone , no television, no hanging out with friends, I'm taking your laptop and you I pad as well , you will go to school and come straight home , you will not stop at a friends or try to convince me that you could be trusted , you won't be allowed to go to the backyard without me supervising you. Am I clear!"
