"..!" I quickly held onto my breath, feeling the water once at my feet rise to cover my entire body.
What is this water..? It's cold...
I could see a light at the top of the water. Was it sunlight?
I desperately tried to swim to the top with what little air I still had, but found myself struggling. I kicked my feet furiously as I reached out.
However, just when it felt as if I was going to reach that light, my body gave out and I felt myself sinking once again...
...
"Kyoko..."
"Hey, Kyoko, wake up."
I groggily opened my eyes, seeing the orange light of an evening sunset hit my eyes. I rose up and found myself on the beach.
My once soaking wet clothes were completely dry and... I saw her again.
"Ayaka..."
"What's wrong?"
"I... huh?" I looked around at the beach we were on. "Where are we?"
"You don't remember?"
That word... remember... remind...
"Ah!" I gasped loudly. I immediately hugged Ayaka tightly. "Ayaka!"
"Uwa! W-what's going on with you?!"
"I'm so happy you're okay..!"
"Eh?" She looked at me with a confused face. "What are you talking about? Did something happen?"
"Huh..?"
"Maybe the thought of finally graduating got to you."
"Graduating..."
That's right. We were supposed to graduate together. With everyone.
But that future was cut short. Because of Miho, or whoever it really was... Huh? Who was it? Did I ever find out?
So, what happened to us? How did we escape that place?
"Ayaka... how did we get here? How were we able to leave that place? Was everyone else safe?" I began to bombard her with questions, but she just looked on with a puzzled expression.
"Huh? Seriously, what are you talking about?"
"She really doesn't remember..?"
I let go of her and took a deep breath.
"Ayaka... what were we last doing?"
"Eh? Why are you asking?" Ayaka chuckled. "We were just taking a walk around the beach. Then you got tired and fell asleep watching the waves."
I still looked at her with a confused look. "Is that so..."
Her smile turned into a look of concern. She leaned forward, "Is everything okay, Kyoko?"
"Y-yeah, I guess... I'm just tired."
"Sleepyhead Kyoko," she ruffled my hair, "You should go back home."
"Er... yeah. We should head home."
Ayaka stood up, reaching out her hand to help me up to my feet.

With that being said, my main inspiration for this AU is simply: (Re:Mind spoilers ahead) what happens if Ayaka and Kyonko end up together? And what happens if they all survive?
