Setting: Aboard the Argo II, during the war with Gaea, sometime around Mark of Athena
Characters: Leo Valdez, Nico Di Angelo, Leo's Mother (ghost)
After learning about Leo's past, his mother, and her untimely demise caused by Gaea, Nico decides to let Leo communicate with his mother as a surprise for his birthday, before Nico shows him his surprise, he consults the other demigods aboard the Argo II and they all understand how important this could be for him so they allow him to take the entire night off and make a schedule amongst themselves wherein they all take shifts piloting and guarding the Argo II. Leo allowed Nico to drag him into the stables, albeit a little bit confused why Nico had a hole filled with what looked suspiciously like several Happy Meals and drinks. Before Leo can question him, he starts chanting.. and then.. his heart skips a beat. It seems impossible but there before him, drinking from the pool, is his mother in a ghostly form. [A/N No other ghosts appear because that ruins the moment] He starts to cry not even caring that Nico is watching. Nico tried to give Leo as much room as possible and slowly moves as far away as he can while still maintaining the communication with Leo's mom. Leo starts fumbling over his own words trying to get out all the things he wish he had the chance to say but now he can and he's just really relieved she's here if only for the time being. He starts to break down and slur his words from talking too fast. His mother has to repeatedly calm him down throughout the night by saying "It's okay Mijo, I love you, everything will be alright" and just repeating that phrase until he can actually speak coherent sentences again...
