Chapter 2

  AN. It will be Toni's pov for thw most part

    A month went by; me and her really never talked if we did it was always just small talk. I really didn't mind anymore she became one of the popular girls which was to be expected. I still thought she was very beautiful but I didn't give much thought to it.... Later in the day our teacher said we would be doing a project in pairs but, she would be picking our partners. She began going down the list and I never actually heard my name so I asked "Um Mrs. Brown who is my partner?" She looked at her board and then up at me again "Oh you'll be working with Cheryl". As she said that we both turned to look at eachother our eyes wide in shock.We hardly ever spoke and now we were supposed to do a project together?!! Oh no this wasn't gonna go well. I didn't know what to say we were both just sitting in awkward silence while everyone around us started making plans on what they would do. I kept my head low until she finally boke the silence "So I'm gonna need your number so that we can decide what we will do and when we'll meet up."

T:"Yeah of course do you want me to put it in your phone or do I write it down somewhere?" She then handed me her phone and I put my number in.

C:"So I'll text you later to see when you wanna meet up."

T:"Sounds good"

I felt my heart beating so fast. I swear it almost jumped out of my chest. The day went by and I just sat with my phone waiting for her to text me. It seemed as if I had waited forever so I began to worry I didn't know if I gave her my number right. What if I typed it in wrong? What if I gave her someone else's number? Why was I even so worried? I mean yeah grades but still that wasn't my biggest concern right now. All these questions flooded my head and then the screen of my phone lit up and I saw her message.And I felt my mind ease from all the questions.

C:"Hey it's Cheryl"

T:"Oh hey!"

C:"So wanna hang out tomorrow after school to start the project?"

T:"Yeah sure" She seemed a lot nicer through messages honestly I wasn't sure if I was talking to the same popular girl from school.

C:"Alright my house then"

T:"Alright"

C:"So we'll meet up at the benches in the front"

T:"Yeah, I'll look for you then"

C:"Alright well see you tomorrow then"

T:"sure"

*Time skip to the next day after school*

I walked out of my last class and to the front where we had agreed to meet up.

I waited for about 10 minutes until I saw her walk out of the school. She walked over to me and simply asked if I needed a ride I told her I had my bike(motorcycle) so I'd just follow her. She nodded her head and headed over to her car. We finally pulled up to her place. As I looked at the house it seemed quite nice from the outside but as we walked in I felt chills run down my spine something seemed off about the place I just wasn't sure what it was. We made our way into her room which was gladly the only place which felt normal in the whole house. We put our bags down and stood quietly for a bit until she said "Are you hungry? Do you wanna eat something before we start?" I simply nodded my head but I was so glad she asked because I was starving. She made her way out and I followed down into the kitchen. We made some ramen noodles then went back to her room. As we sat in her room something seemed off about her; I just couldn't place my finger on what it was so I asked, T:"Hey are you alright?". She simply looked up and smiled C:"Yeah I'm fine. I'm gonna put on some music if that's cool with you". T:"Uh sure" And although she had tried putting on a smile she still seemed as if she was in a lot of pain. I simply stared at her with concern until she looked up at me and smiled C:"Haha What?". T:"Oh nothing sorry" I quickly looked away and heard her start playing Drake. We finished eating and we began working. At first it was kinda awkward but God's Plan played and I had to sing. Then we both began singing together and kinda dancing. We bumped into eachother and we both started laughing. Then the creepy vibes from the house came rushing in as who I persume to be Cheryl's mother stormed right in.

"What is going on in here Cheryl?!" By the tone in her voice I could just tell she was not happy to see me, in fact she looked at Cheryl as if I wasn't in the room. I looked over at Cheryl and saw the light of her eyes disappear as fear took over. I quickly spoke up to try and protect her "Hey Mrs. Blossom I'm Toni Topaz I'm with Cheryl in reading and we were just working on a project that was assigned to us". She quickly shot a glare at me and said "Excuse you I was speaking with my daughter not with you". Cheryl looked up at her mother and with fear in her voice said "It's just a project mother nothing more". The woman just looked at us turned and said "Fine. But I don't want any of your diviant behavior understood?". Cheryl quietly replied "yes mother". The woman walked out closing the door behind her. I looked over at Cheryl again. T:"What a nightmare" C:"Isn't she tho"she gave me a faint smile and quietly said "We should probably get back to work". We stayed quiet for the most part after that. I still couldn't help but feel the need to protect her...
