It was one of those days in May where you call it Summer yet it's still springtime. I spotted Ethan lying in the soft summer/spring grass littered in pink flowers. I sat down next to him in my plain white t-shirt and purple converse. His eyes were closed. 'Probably asleep.' I thought. I just sat for a moment, leaning back into the grass. "That cloud looks like a giant bunny-unicorn." I heard someone say. my head yanked to the side. Ethan's hands rested behind his head and he stared up at the sky. "What? I thought you were asleep!" I scolded myself for not checking to make sure he really was sleeping. he looked up at me,"I know. You talk to yourself too much." he stated blankly. "What?! I talk to myself?" This shouldn't be news to me, a lot of what I say to myself I accidentally say in reality. "You think too much." I hear Ethan mumble,"You're wondering what time is best for Pizza- as brunch. closer to 11 or to 10? I vote anytime for pizza." I roll my eyes," that's what YOU'RE thinking about!" I push his shoulder, causing him to flop back on the ground from his Crossed-legs position. he laughed it off, that award-winning-heart-melting smile of his. it's true, we've been friends since we were kids, but that didn't stop me from liking him. he just has such a way with making people feel good. you'll never see a dark face in his presence. I look up at the sky dotted with cumulus clouds, deciding the shape of each. "A dragon holing a lolly-pop." I choose. I see Ethan squint and look up as well. "No! that's the bunny-unicorn!" He smirked. We both lied down among the pink and green mix of wild flowers and grass, my medium-length brownish hair spread unevenly around my neck and atop my shoulders. "See the rabbit tail? And there's the unicorn head.." Ethan explained, his brown eyes lit up. He had always been a bit of an outdoors kind of guy, so he seemed more relaxed just lying down next to me while we watched the clouds float on by. "Hey Alex?" His head turned to me, his eyes with a trusting expression." Can I tell you something?" He spoke seriously. "Yea, of course." My eyebrows furrowed.
"Promise not to tell anyone?"
"Promise."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Absolutely? Absolute sure with chocolate pudding?"
"Yes, Ethan. with chocolate pudding."
"And cupcakes?"
"Sure."
"Yay."
"What is it?"
"Oh yea!"
"Well?.."
"I haven't beat that level in 'King of The Abyss' yet."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"You liar! I knew it wasn't true when you said you beat that dungeon level!"
"And you know what else?"
*Sigh* "What?"
"You're the best friend in the world."
"Awww! flattery will get you everywhere."
"Even some chocolate pudding?"
"Yea, my mom will probably make some."
"Sweet."
I chuckle at his last comment. chocolate pudding does sound really good now that I think about it..
