I just felt like it something that should be written. A nice thank you note to both DC and Marvel for creating such beautiful films and characters that have changed my life for over.
It should not come to surprise how much I love both Marvel and DC equally. I love both comics and films so much. There have been times where I have been sadden by Marvel choices like HYDRA Cap, but either way that has not end the love for both DC and Marvel. Marvel bought to me my role model Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers who will be the new face of the MCU according to Marvel. A few years back I was mad and sad that they delayed the Captain Marvel film three times because it is a film that I have been waiting all my life to see. With all honestly, I have accepted the wait worth it after watching the after credits scene of Infinity War. Carol, I'm rooting for you to fly and knock out some sense into Thanos because I know you are strong enough to do so. You have done it in the comics. Marvel has also bought me the X-Men, bless Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for creating such beautiful characters who I hold so dear in my heart. I grew up with the X-Men, and even if it came to pick between the Avengers and the X-Men like in the comics; I would not hesitate to pick the X-Men.
Infinity War Part I came right around the ten year anniversary of Marvel film. I have for an entire decade followed these beautiful films made by talented people. I mean, I still remember being eight years old and watching the first Iron Man with my dad. I remember the magic feeling of seeing Asgard for the first time. All these films have such a special place in my heart. I am so proud of how far Marvel as come, and I'm proud to call myself a fan. I'm proud of how far Marvel has come over the decades that it has been around. I will forever stand tall with my Marvel pride. I'm so thankful for the characters that Marvel had introduced and the films they have made. They have changed my life.
Any story has its ups and downs, just like comic books and just like life in general. I mean, I have enjoyed, loved many comics more than others. But there was one thing that really shocked me and sadden me which was HYDRA Cap. I look back at when HYDRA Cap came out. I was one of the many disappointed, sadden and shocked fans. I know what Steve stands for and why he was created originally. In my point of view that introduction to this HYDRA Cap broke the memory of the original creators Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Cap was intended to fight Nazis not to be a Nazi himself. I understand why Nick Spencer did it. He has said it was a good idea, and of course him being the writer he accepted it. I'm not defending his decision, I'm trying to comprehend why he did it. I am a writer myself and sometimes we come to an idea that we think it's good and then it's bad. I accept his decision and respect it, but it does not mean I agree with it. So, I left HYDRA cap in the past along with my sadness. Now I'm focusing on the future of Marvel and how Carol Danvers will be the new face of Marvel. I love her so much. Thank you Marvel!!! You have no idea how much this means to me.
Then there is DC. Apart from X-Men, I grew up watching Batman. Batman has been one of my favorite DC character since I could recall. I loved the complexity of the character and what it involved. I loved how the Batman comics included social issues such as corruption and so many more. Comics are medium that could be use to educate people about the problems in our society. I will forever be thankful for DC giving me this character. Then there is Batgirl. My role model, the original Batgirl, Barbara Gordon. She has been a character that have bought me strength in very dark times that I have had in my life. I will always relay on the image of her and how strong she had been through tough times and be inspired by it. I am really looking forward to see where this new DC cinematic universe leads to. I can't wait for Wonder Woman II where Kristen Wiig is going to be Cheetah!! I'm so excited.
So the conclusion is, thank you Marvel and DC for everything. For the characters, for the comics and for the films. You have changed my life along with so may others. I love both of them equally and will never grow tired of them. I will forever be a Marvel and DC fan.
Also to the fans out there, the comic industry has its highs and lows just like anything else. We might not like one comics, but we might like another one and that is okay because we all have different perspective and things we like. So we should all be mindful is the comic changes its story. As well as what other people might like. We are a big fandom with different point of views, so instead of fighting which point of view is better let's seat down and be united. We all love comics and are passionate about them. So, let's stand tall together to support our beautiful fandom.
Be proud of your comics and the fan that you are. Don't get too frustrated when the comics change their story, because they will eventually change it back to its origin. There are so many possibilities in the comic industry that one can't know which path it will take. Be comprehensive when it comes to new stories and a changes in the story. Sometimes we perceive something to be a good idea, and it turned out it was not so be open minded. I bet that being a comic writer is difficult and stressful.
I'm a proud Marvel and DC fan. I will forever be one. I'm greatly thankful for everything that DC and Marvel has shows me and taught me. I hope that the stories stories they tell and the characters they bring will inspire many generations to come. Thank you DC and Marvel.
