"Mum, Allison and I are going down to the bakery! Do you want something?" I shouted from upstairs. Allison has been my bestfriend ever since second grade when she moved into the house a block away from mine.
"No thanks honey! I just had lunch but dont take so long we are going to your grandmother's house tonight and going to visit my cousin Bridget and her son tomorrow morning." she replied.
"Okay Mum see you in an hour or so." I walked down to Allison's house.... More like jogged. Just the thought of seeing Harry made me all warm and fuzzy inside... And that he would give me a free cookie.
"Hey you ready?" I asked Allison.
"Yeah just let me get my purse. Do you think this outfit looks good?" She asked me. I don't see why Alison was so worried about the way she looked. She had long brown wavy hair, she was tall, tanned and had big brown eyes. She was the complete oppisite of me. Where I had blonde hair and hazel eyes with long straight hair and freckles sprinkled lightly across my face.
" You look great Allison. Now can we please go?" I asked anxiously. She nodded and closed the door.
"So why are you so excited to go to the bakery?" she asked. Even if she was my best friend, I couldn't tell her that I liked Harry. She would end up blurting it out right in front of him.
"I just really want a cookie" I said like a child.
As we walked into the little bakery, we could hear harry singing behind the counter. He blushed when he noticed that we entered.
"Hello Harry." Allison said to him.
" Hello Allison and Alanna. How are you today?" He asked looking over at me.
"Fine." We replied. He walked out from behind the counter where we noticed he was covered in flour. He walked up and gave me a hug.
"Guess what I have for you." Harry asked excitedly.
"What do you have harry?" I asked mocking him. He pulled out a chocolate chip cookie with a big smile.
"My favourite!" I yelled and gave harry a hug. After that Allison asked to speak with me outside.
"You like him! I knew it! I knew it! I just knew! Oh my gosh Alanna how could you not tell me!" She yelled.
"Sh! Keep your voice down he'll hear you." I whispered while blushing. We walked back into the bakery catching Harry singing again. Allison and I just sat down at the table in the corner as he walked over with some more cookies and sat down next to me.
"Harry you have a really good voice." Allison told him. He shook his head.
"I do not. That's why I don't like it when people hear me singing." He said before stuffing his face with a cookie.
"No you really do harry." I reassured him.
"In fact... You should go on X-Factor!" I said with a big smile. He chocked on his cookie.
"No! I cant! I can't preform in front of all those people!" Harry said with fear in his eyes.
"Harry. You have been the bravest person I know." I said to reassure him which didn't work.
"What Alanna is trying to say is... If you try out you'll do great!" She said smiling at him.
"Yeah that's what I meant." I said looking at the clock on the wall.
"Oh my gosh!" I exclaimed.
"I have to go." I said sadly as I got up and thanked Harry for the cookies.
"Wait why do you have to leave so soon?" Harry asked.
"I'm going to visit Niall tomorrow morning and I have to pack. I'm goniong to be there for a week." I said as Harry started looking sad. I walked over and gave him a hug.
"You will be the first person I visit when I get back." I said to him. I didn't want to leave him even if it was a week.
As I reached my house, I saw my mum standing at the door waiting for me.
"Alanna you were suposed to be here an hour ago." she said sharply.
"I'm sorry Mum. We were just talking about... " She cut me off.
"Alanna don't give me excuses. Your grandmother has been waiting a long time for us so you have 5 minuets to get ready to go to your grandmother's house so hurry up!" she said annoyed but yet calm. My mother never got really mad at me. She would just talk to me and then send me off to room.
She was already in the car when I got out of the house.
"Okay I'm ready. And I'm sorry I was late." I said.
"It's okay Alanna. It's just... You're going to college in a year and I want to prepare you to getting used to being responsible." She told me kindly. I nodded and got in the car.
"Mum. Can I ask you a question?" I asked unsure if I really wanted to ask her.
"Yes honey." I took a deep breath.
"Okay so if you really like someone and a person that is really close to you found out but your afraid that the person might tell someone should you just lie to them and say that you don't like that person anymore or do you just go with it?" I said really fast. My mum turned and looked at me.
"Allison found out that you like Harry didn't she?" She said with a raised eybrow.
"Wait. You know that I like Harry?" I said as she started the car.
"Alanna, honey, I'm your mum. I know everything." She said all smart.
"Well then... Yes. Allison found out. So what should I do?" I said slouching in my seat.
"Well she's your best friend and you have told her all your secrets and she's kept them all so I think you can trust her." she said while stopping at a red light.
"I guess. But today she almost told Harry. She started yelling right outside the bakery 'I knew it! You like him!" I told her annoyed.
"Alanna, Allison wouldn't tell him or anyone. Trust her." She said while she patted my head and pulled up to my grandmother's drive way.
