tears continued to stream from her
eyes as the doctor worked on bringing
him back to this world. she didn't want
him to leave yet not now.

as the monitor returned to it's normal
rhythm. she let out the breath. she peeked in through the entrance as the doctor motioned for her to enter.

she stepped inside the brightly lit room
and dimmed the lights as the hospital staff left. she sat beside him once more
and clutched his hand in hers, gently.

she wanted him alive, even if it
meant that he would stay asleep for
eternity. he was still with her at least—
barely

as she begged the heavens once
more, she hoped that she could feel
his lips moving against hers. she leaned in to plant a soft kiss to his forehead.


a whimper escaped her lips; she could
feel herself start to sob silently beside his
bed. she didn't want to accept his current
state. she wanted to see him smile.


she cried into his bed sheets and let out
a loud cry as she wailed— muffling
any sound from slipping out of her chapped lips.

she wanted to feel his warmth. she wanted to hug him and feel his body protecting her. he was the centre of her life— the core reason she even smiled.

and now she could never announce their love to others.
