I smiled at my mum and brought her in for another hug. She was crying. She was always making a big deal about it when I left for the summer. Not that it was new.
I always stayed at the Weasley's for the last month of the summer holidays. They were so welcoming there. I loved sharing a room with my best friend and staying up late by the fire with Molly's famous pot roast.
It was a magical place, the burrow. Full of life and fun and warmth. The opposite of my house. My house was lonely and gloomy. It was a giant manor with many rooms. Most empty. I never had my friends over there. I couldn't. My dad would kill them. Literally.
I got my own room at my house. A few rooms away from my brother's. He barely spoke to me anymore. Not after he joined the dark lord. I knew dad forced him into it. But it was still so hard for me to see him be involved in that.
My father barely spoke to me either. But that had been going on longer than I could remeber. Since I sent my parents the letter telling them I had been sorted into gryffindor. That is. Everyone else in my family was in slytherin. Even my brother! Of course he didn't resent me for it. He loved me no matter what.
But being the only gryffindor malfoy was a tough game. Especially making friends. I had become good friends with Ginny Weasley. She was my best friend in fact. I had also become good friends with her brothers. Her many brothers. It had taken them a while to get used to the fact that I was a malfoy. But they got over it after they realised I was a good person that meant no harm.
My mum wiped away her eyes and I turned to my brother. My father, had of course. Not been bothered to show up. He was still furious I had involved myself with the weasleys. "Bye Draco." I said sincerely. Pulling him in for a squeeze. He hugged me back and bent down to my ear.
"Owl me," He said softly. I nodded and he smiled. "And tell me if one of the weasels try's something." I giggled and let go of him before walking up to the flying car that was making its decent in front of the manor.
"Hello y/n!" Arthur exclaimed as he hopped out of the car and grabbed my trunk. I smiled at him. "Hello Mr. Weasley!" He looked at me with a half smirk. "Call me Arthur dear."
I grinned. He had been telling me to call him Arthur for years. Had I listened? Nope. It was a malfoy habit to always respect your elders and superiors. I always complied with that. I had to be polite. It was in my genes.
I glanced into the small car. Usually, Ginny would convince her father to let her come to pick me up and we would sit in the back giggling as Arthur complained about feeling like something muggles call "chofer"
This time, however. Ginny was sat in the front of the car. Her long hair tied back in a braid. Her smile gleaming. "Hey y/n, sorry about them." She signalled to the back of the car where her brothers, Fred and George, were sat, smiling at me.
I hadn't noticed them before. They looked different for some reason. Their hair was slightly longer than it was before the holidays and they must've been working out cuz DAAAAAAAMMMMM.
"They insisted on coming." She added. Rolling her eyes. I turned to the boys and smirked. "Just can't get enough of me boys?" I laughed. They smirked at me. "Of course not, we could never get enough of you sweetheart." George joked. I glanced at Fred, he always added on to his brothers comments.
"In fact. I remember dreaming about you a few times." Fred smirked. "It most of the time involved you in my be-"
"FRED!" I exclaimed, opening the door And sliding into the empty seat in between the boys. I knew he was joking. He always was. I sat down and hit him in the arm. He chuckled and shuffled closer to me "subtly" though I completely noticed that now our thighs were touching.
