CHAPTER SIX
A big yawn escaped Grace's lips as she rubbed tiredly at her eyes, blinking and trying to clear her vision. Her eyes took in the sight of the boys' living room, half remembering the trek from her truck to their couch and the boys popping in a movie before she lost complete consciousness. Her lips stretched into a small smile as she scanned over the limbs of teenage boys sprawled across the floor and Corbyn, who had stole the recliner. Her heart warmed when she finally realized Daniel curled up at the very end at of the couch, fast asleep in a seemingly uncomfortable manner. He hadn't moved a muscle since last night, letting her feet remain propped up in his lap. She shook her head softly with a smile, carefully removing them and untangling herself from the heap of blankets.
Grace padded to the kitchen quietly, tugging her fingers through her tangled hair. The clock on the wall read 8:24, the sun shining brightly through the window as she poured her self a glass of water. The chirping of the birds through the cracked window was soothing as she leaned against the counter, taking in the familiar atmosphere. She smiled, remembering days spent making cookies in here with Keri and her Aunt Lydia or whipping up lemonade for their stand with Daniel. Being back here was crazy nostalgic.
Grace decided to whip up some breakfast for the boys in return for letting her steal the couch and she shuffled over to the fridge to see what see could find. The brunette shook her head at the sight of a nearly empty fridge, only occupied by a pizza box and a half empty bottle of lemonade.
"You're absolutely kidding," She murmured to herself, chewing on her bottom lip. How the hell do these boys survive? They're clearly not fit to take care of themselves. Pulling her hair up into a ponytail and snatching her keys off the counter, she headed out to the grocery store.
A solid hour and a cart full of food later, Grace was struggling to carry nearly ten bags of groceries through the Seavey's front door because she refused to make multiple trips. Sadie, who she had picked up on the way back, trotted behind her and headed to the living room.
Grace was pleasantly surprised to find Jonah settled on a stool at the island, a cup of coffee between his hands. She flashed him a smile and plopped the bags on the counter, "Good morning."
"Morning, Gracey," He greeted, making her smile at the nickname he had picked up. "You planning to feed the entire town or something?" He shot her an incredulous look, eyeing the groceries.
"No, just five teenage boys," She replied, giving him a knowing look to which he shrugged sheepishly. "You know, you have nothing in your fridge, right?"
Jonah rolled his eyes playfully, "We're simple men." When she paused unloading the food to raise an eyebrow at him, he chuckled. "Okay, we haven't really gotten the chance to go to the store yet."
"Were you planning to live off diner food?" Grace questioned, digging in the cupboards for some frying pans. "Oh, well, of course you were. So you can see a certain waitress again."
