Maurice's Boxing Day

The day after Christmas, Maurice woke up very full. During the night he had sleep walked down to the kitchen and ate all the leftover turkey dinner. Maurice felt kind of shameful for eating all Alexa's food, so he declared that he was going to the store to get more. But Alexa stopped him.

"No! The stores are all closed!"

"Why?" Said Maurice.

"Because it's Boxing Day!"

Maurice didn't know what Boxing Day was. He didn't even know what boxing was, so he stole Alexa's computer and googled 'boxing'. He couldn't read so he went to look at the pictures and saw a bunch of guys wearing big gloves. Eventually he figured out that they were punching each other.

He went to Alexa's attic and found two old baseball gloves. He glued bouncy ball's to them to make them round. Then he went to a sketchy alleyway where two people were having a fight. They were throwing punches at each other so he assumed this must be boxing.

Giving a battle cry, Maurice charged forward and started punching them. He kept punching until they were both on the ground begging for mercy.

"Here take my money!" said one. "Just stop punching me!"

He handed Maurice $1000 that he'd stolen from a bank.

Yes! I have won! thought Maurice. He rushed next door to Freak Lunchbox. He couldn't decide what to buy so he took one of everything and spoonfuls of each candy off the walls. The total came to $999.99.

Maurice ate all his candy until he felt so sick that he couldn't even look at the food or think about it. He made a big bonfire in the middle of the street and burned all the leftover candy.

When he got back Alexa was furious.

"Where have you been Maurice?" She screeched.

Maurice knew he had to stay calm. "Well, it's Boxing Day, so I went boxing. I won $1000!"

Alexa actually smiled. "Maurice, you can pay off all your debts now!"

"Actually I spent it all on candy," he said.

Alexa wasn't even mad, she should have seen this coming. "Do you have any for me, at least?" she asked.

"Sorry, I burnt it all. I couldn't stand it anymore."

Alexa just sighed.

"I saved you the change though!" Maurice tried to make it up to her. He handed her the $0.01.

Alexa started crying.
