The morning came faster than I had expected. I found Tendef by my side, still asleep. He looked like a small boy, when he slept. I reached to take his mask off. I needed to see who he really was. I slowly and quietly gripped the mask and pulled it off of him. With no hesitation, I gasped at the familiar face. "T-Takkuuu!!!!!" I embraced him, with tears in my eyes. He awoke. He realized his mask was no longer covering his face. "Natsu....." "Why would you hide yourself from me!!??" "I would ask you the same thing....." "I missed you so much!!!" I screamed, still embracing him.
He was also holding me. "Can we stay like this for a while?" I asked him. "Yes....." he hugged me tighter. "But, Natsu, why did you run away?" "I..... I'm a mermaid now..." "That can't be the only reason." "I was just afraid if you found me out, that you wouldn't be able to take it, and what if someone else saw me?" "I would never think of you differently... And, if I was there, no one would see you as a mermaid." "How come?" "Because, I wouldn't let them...." Taku's face got closer to mine. He softly kissed me. "Taku!" I whispered. "I love you, N-" I placed my index finger on his lips. "It's okay," I whispered. "I think I feel the same way..... Anyway, what's this all about?!" I pulled his ear. "Ouch!" he cried out. "When did this happen?" I asked, referring to his pointed elf ears. "It actually happened a few months ago," he answered "I guess we both had secrets..." I laughed.
"We need to return to the castle soon. You have an injured foot that needs to be taken care of," Taku said. "I know, but... Hey, where's Brella?!" "Oh, I took care of her. She's probably still in the cloth you gave her." "Okay, I guess we probably should go back to the castle... I need to contact Shinobu first." "I can tell her for you, if you want." "Thanks, but when I'm a mermaid, my ankle isn't broken. I can do it myself." "Oh... yeah," he blushed. "I forgot..." "Well, I'll go now.... Umm, can you please help me in the water?" "Of course." He gently picked me up, and walked to the river. I grasped some water, and immediately splashed it in my face. My fish tail came back, and I swiftly dove in.
I looked for her. "Shinobu-chan! Where are you?" After I called her name a few times, she finally came. "What is it, Nilinna-chan?" "Oh, first I need to tell you that my name is actually... Natsu... Sorry for telling you it was Nilinna." "Why did you tell me it was Nilinna, then?" Shinobu said with her arms crossed. "I'll explain later, right now, I need you to follow me," I took her hand, and quickly swam back to where Taku was waiting for me. "Can we bring her too, Taku-chan?" I said after I swam up to him. "I guess..." Taku sighed. "Wait, where are we going?!" Shinobu interrupted. "You'll see when we get there, heheheh..." I chuckled.
We waited until Shinobu's and my tail wore off, then we were on our way, with Taku carrying me step by step. I, was holding Brella. I couldn't just leave her there..... After a few hours of walking, we found a horse tied up to a tree, and it was also quite close to a lake. Seiichi, the horse, licked my face. "Seiichi! Hahahah, I missed you too, boy!" I said to the horse. "Aww," Shinobu said as she pet Seiichi's head. "We're going to ride him," Taku said. Taku picked me up again, and jumped up on the horse. "Ya coming, Shinobu?" I said. "Yeah, yeah," Shinobu carefully climbed up on the horse.
A few hours after the sun set, we reached the kingdom. I was bursting with joy at the sight of the castle, my home. When we got off the horses, Taku put me down, and told me to wait there with Shinobu. I watched him greet the guards, and shortly after, I saw the guards open the gates of the castle. He came back, picked me up again, and rushed to the castle. I could hear Shinobu say "Guys, wait for meeeee!!!!" Taku ran to the nurse's room, and layed me on a hospital bed. He smiled at me, "You'll be okay now. I won't let you get hurt that easily again." "Thank you so much..... TA-KU-CHAN!!!!!" I stuck my tongue out at him like a child. "Heyyyyy!" Taku got closer to me. "Yeah, you're welcome..... NA-TSU-CHAN!!!!" Taku said. We both laughed. Finally, I could see Taku laughing once again.
