Chapter 8~ Video Game

After we all finished chatting and eating our ice cream, Mark, Donghyuck, Aliya and Kim showed us the street to SM. Jackson's house is fairly close, so we all decided to go and chill for a bit.

"Hey! Mark hyung that's not fair!!" Donghyuck whined, falling off rainbow road for the hundredth time.

"I don't control those turtles! Stop yelling!" Mark yelled. 

"HA HA first place again!" I cheered, jumping off the couch.  "Wanna play another round?" I smirked. 

"And lose to you again, no thank you" Aliya said, surrendering her steering wheel in the middle of the coffee table.

Jackson gave his up next to Aliya's, "I'm done, you got me beat" he sighed, relaxing back in his seat.

"Me to" Kim said. "I was this close!" she indicated squeezing her fingers together.

I turned my head at Mark who looked like he was making a life decision.  He noticed me, shook his head and placed his control next to the others. 

Finally the last surrender, looking at me ever so confidently.  "And you?" I questioned Donghyuck.

He put his control in his lap, smirked, clapped and yelled "Again!"

"Ok!" I cheered, taking a seat next to him. 

"Ok this will be the tiebreaker, whoever wins gets...?" He stopped for a minute scratching the side of his head.

An idea popped in my head, but how am I going to translate it...oh god. "Oh! The...looser buys...dinner and lunch, for the winner..." I say in my poor korean, then Mark translated it better.

"Thank you" I sighed, as he nodded. I really need to improve, and quickly.

Donghuck stuck out his hand for me to shake. "Deal!" He Said.

"Deal" I repeated.

We got in our starting positions.  I chose the first track, one of my favorites, DK's Jungle Parkway. The first two rounds, we're tied, and in the last one I won!

Everyone was quite calm. It's only the first track, so nothing special. Till the second track, Donghyuck picked Maple Treeway, and everyone started to get on edge.

Somehow I managed to fall off twice in one round?! Donghyuck beat me on that one. Him coming in first and me in second.

"Oh my god Rose what happened?" Jackson gasped.

"I-I don't know..." I looked at the score chart in shock, unable to process what just happened. I snap myself out of my own confusion. I shall not let him beat me!!

I know the perfect track to wipe the floor with him. "Rainbow Rode let's go!" I exclaimed, straightening my back getting ready for war.

I shall not be beaten at my own game!!!

We're in. I pick the one and only Mario as Donghyuck picks King Boo. We get in our starting position, a Lakitu starts the count down.

I look to Donghyuck just as he looked to me. We took our hands out in front of us and shook each other's hand.

3...2..1!!

And we're off. Immediately I get fling forward, almost falling off the track. Donghyuck zooms past me making it to third place already. I get back on track passing everyone and making my way to fifth place.

"Holy chiz! Rose?!" Kim yelled in shock.

"BDOAUQHBSXKJ" I cried.

Now on to the second lap. I started and finished it in seconed place, but that's not good enough for me!

Aliya, Kim and Jackson are screaming on the edge of their seats, pulling their hair out, but I drown them out as much as I could. I need no distractions.

The third and final lap. I fly past Donghyuck, landing in first place, but he passes me again and im back in second. I get an item box and what i get is his worst nightmare.

The red shell.

I steady my kart right behind his, and i see it, the finish line. Its now or never.

"W-What are you doing?!" Donghyuck stuttered.

I looked at him, right in his eyes. Fear, the only thing you can see in him.

I smiled and said "bye". The trigger was pulled and he went flying over my kart. The next item box I got gave me a major boost. I super speed towards the finish line and its game over.

"HO YAH!" I cheer.  "Another win for the master!!"

I stood up and reached out my hand for Donghyuck to shake. "GG" i said.

He took a hold of my hand, "GG?" He questioned, tilting his head.

"It means good game" I looked to Mark, and he translated it to Donghyuk.

"Ohhhh! Ok, GG" he smiled. We all laughed at his cute accent.

Then I started hearing the trophy ceremony music and I couldn't help myself. I put down my kart wheel and started popping off to the music.

"Oh there she goes" Jackson chuckled.

"Ok queen pop off!!" Kim cheered, waving her arms in the air.

"ok ok that's enough messing around"

I stopped dancing to see who was talking.  To my surprise it was Mr.Lee leaning on the wall in his work clothes.  I guess he just came back from SM.   

"it's getting late, you four should have already been at the dormitory, and you two should be getting ready for bed.  You all have a big day tomorrow" he informed, crossing his arms. 

we all agreed and helped Jackson put away the game controller's.  Then walked Mark, Donghyuk, Kim and Aliya to the front door and said our goodbyes.

I watched them walk down the stairs to the cement street below.  "bye guys!!" I shouted and waved. 

"bye!" Jackson waved. 

"bye guys see you tomorrow!" Mark said. 

"bye Rose!!!" Kim loudly screamed, jumping up and down.  Aliya quickly shushed her. 

"bye Donghyuk!" I called out.  "oh, Jackson tell him to not forget about buying me lunch and dinner tomorrow"

"ok" he chuckled.  "Donghyuk hyung!" Jackson quickly translated.  saying it a bit to fast for me to understand most of the words he was saying. 

"oh...ok! bye bye!" He said.  Me and Jackson both chuckled at his little accent. 

We watched them walk off into the dark street only lit up by street lights.  I leaned on the stone railing and gazed up at the night sky.  A small breeze passed by making the loose strands of hair from my ponytail go wild. 

"hey, aren't you coming inside?"

I looked back at Jackson standing by the door.  "oh, ya I'm coming!" I chuckleed running up to him. 

"you dosed off again didn't you?" he said giving me the side eye. 

"shut up, let's go to sleep, I'm tired" I yawned.
