Chapter 9:
Darn, I'm so stupid how am I possibly going to pull this off!?
As I'm mentally ranting I forget to watch where I'm going and somehow end up crashing quite ungracefully, again, into Justin.
"We have to stop meeting like this." He chuckles.
That laugh...No stop!!!
I manage to gingerly grin and stand up, somehow none of my stuff fell out of my bag. My lucks looking up!
"Sorry about that, I wasn't watching where I was going." I quickly rattle out before once again taking off down the hallway towards home.
All the while I can feel his green eyes following me.
I just shake it off, I'm sure it's nothing. I have bigger fish to fry anyway. How to be a human and a horse, such a simple concept.
Finally arriving home, after power walking all the way, I practically sprint to my closet room. I scrape out all my homework finishing in record time, seriously one hour is unheard of.
Must be the nerves spurring my hyperactive brain to actually focus for once.
Shaking off my nerves for the umpteenth time today, I sneak out of my room soundlessly as I can hear Claire in her room, and slip out the back door.
Before I have time to second guess myself I shift and gallop off towards the tree in the dying light of the day. The closer I get the more antsy my nerves become, my muscles bunch up and I remain tense and ready to bolt in a seconds notice.
Once to the tree I decided to hang back in the tree line of the woods and scan the area before making myself known.
Sure enough, as instructed, there under my giant tree stood jerk-asaurus. He wore a simple black hoodie, tufts of his black hair sticking out his bright blue eyes searching beneath his hood, with blue jeans and your typical ranch hand boots. However that wasn't all, in his hand, blatantly obvious, he carried a rope.
Nice try.
My blood boiled slightly at the sight of said capturing devise, even Hope gave a small snort of dismay in the back of my mind. I held back an angry snort before turning and running back towards home.
I really shouldn't have expected any less than that, this is jerk-asaurus.
I grumbled mentally all the way back to the house, enjoying the feeling of stretching my aching legs and the evening wind through my mane.
Once home I shift back, run to my room and collapse on my bed, tired from today's events. I quickly fall asleep not even sparing a thought towards what tomorrow brings.
I wake up in a daze, not really awake but not really asleep. My body seems to move of its own accord as it drearily pulls on some blue jeans and a tank top with my favorite oversized sweatshirt.
I pull my hair back not bothering to brush my bangs instead deciding that running my fingers through them is good enough. I don't put on any makeup, instead deciding that looking like death fits my mood.
Maybe I'm getting sick.
Either way that won't stop me from going to school, or going out later to stretch my horse legs.
After staring at the toaster for a solid minute I decide I'm not hungry and instead begin my trek to school. The day is cloudy and cold, kind of fitting for how this day feels so far.
Once safely to school, and quite a bit earlier than usual, I begin to wander the somewhat empty halls. My brain is still tired and muddled for some reason, causing me to miss the fact that I'm being watched.
Out of nowhere I'm grabbed by my backpack and pulled into a small dark hallway away from anyone's eyes or ears.
I quickly spin on the person now wide awake ready to run faster than fast until I realize who exactly I'm looking at. My anger from last night returns as I see the stormy look on his face.
Good morning to you too, jerk-asaurus.
"You lied! You said the horse would be there and in fact that horse didn't ever show up!" He whisper shouted.
I rolled my eyes before answering calmly.
"No, I said for you to go there with nobody and nothing but yourself. Did you do that?" I prodded beginning to become frustrated."Yes!" He whisper shouted.
Liar!! I finally snapped almost forgetting that I need to make it seem like I don't know anything.
"Obviously you didn't otherwise she would've shown herself! She's not stupid, and here I thought for a moment you weren't either! You brought a rope!"
Whoops my tongue slipped, I said too much.
"How do you know I brought a rope?" He asked suspiciously.
Crap think!
"Lucky guess, now I know you brought a rope." I smirked, more happy with the fact I came up with a way to play that off.
His blue eyes sparkled with surprise as his mouth opened and closed in an attempt to make a come back.
I simply chuckled darkly, turned on my heel, and made my way to class.
Now to make it through the day and tutor that one back there. Here's to another long day.
I'm back, from the dead, with this long awaited chapter. I'm already starting work on the next one, this was a shorter one the next will be quite a bit longer I think. Anyways I might as well explain my absence, at first it was me being lazy and choosing to read rather than write but this summer I had every intention of getting back into it. That plan however did not take into account the fact that I am fortunate enough to be in almost all AP classes and taking a summer class on top of that. So not only do I have summer assignments for when school starts, I also have work for a full blown class. That on top of all the traveling I do and the fact I am a terrible procrastinator has put quite the stress on my time. I haven't even been reading a lot lately, it's nuts! Anyway I've managed to finish up a substantial chunk of work so hopefully you can expect some updates for the next couple days, until I need to finish even more stuff...anyway, love you guys, thanks for your patience, until next time!
