Crash and crushed

*Anna's POV*

Its been two weeks Jake and i started dating and so much about me has changed...

I gained some confidence in myself now, i smile often and i also talk with more people at school all thanks to Jake's magic....

As i left the field after trainning together with nina i complained to her about a headache and she just thought it was cause of the training and i agreed with her...

'See you later anna' Nina called out as we departed into different directions..

'Bye Nina' i said back tired

I got out from sch feeling not too good and Jake was not able to wait till i finish trainning cause of the group project the history teacher gave out, so he is definitely at one of his group member's house....

I waved down a cab and entered....

During the ride i went through random stuffs on my cellphone

By the time i looked up the driver of the cab has passed out ..... Dang it!!!   Am in trouble.....

'Mister, mister' i called as i shook him to wake up but no response then i saw cans of alcoholics in the passenger's seat.. 'Shit' i muttered in confusion as we approached the red light

I crossed to the front from the back in a flash trying to get my legs on the brake before i could do that the cab had already passed the cars waiting for the green light to come on.... The  last thing i saw was an incoming car which will definetly crash into the cab i was in and then everything blacked out.

I heard beeps and hummings which seems to come from machines constantly from my  sleep then i decided to open my eyes but it was as if an embargo was placed on them, then i tried again after some efforts my eyes opened into a blurry vision of a white background.... Bits by bits my vision started clearing and i realized it was a white ceiling i was looking up too... Suddenly i had someone call my name.

'Annabelle'

I looked sideways to find my dad. Then i tried to sit up and he held down my hands

'Just lay down Annabelle' he said looking worried and distressed.

Then i suddenly remembered the cab...

'Dad what happended to me' i asked barely able to talk loud..

He just patted me on the head.

'Let me get a doctor' he said as he stood up and left the room.

And before i knew it i zoned off......

I woke up with a throbbing headache as i lifted my right hand to my head i noticed that a drip was connected to my viens and my eyes snapped opened widely to meet faces that were half happy and half sad... I saw the monitor that monitors my heartbeats, pulse rate and others stuffs and then it dawned on me that i was in the hospital...

Still trying to process my surroundings then i also realised cast on my two legs....  my mum spoke up holding me...

'My baby you are awake' she said half smiling..

'Mum' i smiled back

'Hey kiddo' my Dad said smiling too

'Hey dad' i also smiled back at him

'Anna good to see you alive'  maya said looking at me thankfully..

'Maya you are here, dont worry am alive' i said smiling to her..

As i wanted to move my left hand to reach maya then i noticed that it was in a cast too... Then i looked up...

'Can someone tell me whats going on' i asked curiously to break the awkward slience...

Then my mum spoke as my dad held her by the shoulders...

'Annabelle a car crashed into the cab you boared because the driver passed out due to effects of too much alcohol'

Then i remembered trying to get to the brakes..

'Because you tried to stop the car and you were not in a seat talkless of seat belt , so when the car crashed into the cab you were severely injured because the crash threw you with force breaking the windshield out of the car across the road' my mum trailed off sadly

She continued..

'You have been out for three days and when you woke up on saturday your dad was here' i nodded trying to remember my dad holding my hand

Then i spoke up.. 'What day is it?

'Sunday' maya answered

'You had already slept back before i and the doctor arrived yesterday' my dad said

'What about the driver? '

'Dead' mum answered me 'We are glad you did not die Annabelle'

'Am happy to see you all' i said smiling
'Where is Jake? ' i asked as my dad interupted me..

'Annabelle i have to get back to work now and your mum needs to go home quickly and come back later okay?

'Alright see you guys later' i said...

Then maya sat next to the bed smiling at me

'Hey whatsup' i smiled at her

'Am glad you are back , i almost had an heart attack when i heard my best friend was in a terrible state' then she held my hand
' i should have waited till you finished trainning the other day am so so so sorry' she said sqeezing my hand lightly

'Its not your fault besides if you had waited we could have been like this together and that would be the worst' i said looking at her assuringly

'I cant wait for you to get out of here i have been lonely in school' she said happily

'Wow i am so important to you yay! ' i said teasingly

'Off course you are' she teased back pouting

'Where is jake i want to see him' i asked maya to my suprise her happy face turned into a sad face..
'Whats wrong maya'

'He said he cant face you now in this state because he blames himself for all that happened' maya said looking down

Suddenly i felt heat rush over my face... I was angry, sad and confused because this is the moment i need him by my side why would he leave me for goodness sake... I was fuming...

'Anna  i will talk to him again okay? '

'He should be by my side now ' i stated as tears came rushing down my fuming cheeks.. 'He didn't drive the cab why would he blame himself, why does he not want to see me in this state, does he hate me now, is it because am down here with bruises and cast over my arm and my two legs, i so much hate him right now' i stated bitterly as my tears were just streaming down my face

'Take it easy anna , stop crying, dont worry he will come see you , i will talk to him'

'I don't want to see him either maya, i dont want to i hate him right now, why would he blame himself, he should know i need him by my side, why did Jake ditch me to deal with these alone , am so crushed right now so so crushed' i continued ranting with tears as maya was trying to console me..... Them my cries turned into silent sobs till i zoned off again....
