"Back in the Soldier's Arms"
The soft glistening snow fell on her face as she walked hand-in-hand with her husband, Alex. They sauntered slowly through the pathway of the park. Talking about future things . Like Alex's next time to leave for military duties. "Three days."Alex moaned sadly, looking down trying not to make eye contact with Bella. He felt guilty that he had not told her earlier. He gripped Bella's hand tighter. Bella looked at Alex in disbelief. "Three days?" She asked. Alex odded making Bella want to cry. Bella wondered why he hadn't told her earlier. "Lies..." She said not believing a word he told her. He shot her a look that made her believe it.
They strolled in silence until they got to Alex's front porch. Bella always wondered why they weren't living together if they are married. Alex let go of Bella's hand. "I love you. I'll text you later." He said hugging Bella tight. "same." She said back, avoiding his eyes. Alex lifted her chin to get her to look at him. "I'm really sorry." He confessed knowing she didn't want him to leave. "Its fine. Really." She was hurt on the inside.
Bella walked home depressed. She really didn't want him to leave.
Two days later, Alex started packing as Bella watched. "I dont want you to go.' Bella broke the silence. "I have to. I'm sorry Love." Alex whispered.
Another day later, Bella was up in her room. Crying. Writing.

I don't understand why he has to go. I really don't. I love him and I don't him to leave. Its not fair.
She slammed the book and curled up into a ball and cried softly. To Bella, this isn't fair, nothings fair. Right then and there Alex walked in. He dropped his things and ran over to her, grabbed her into his arms. She wrapped her arms around his torso. Alex calmed her down to where she had fallen asleep. He didn't want to awake her but, he had to. She has to drive him to the airport.
"Belle...Belle," He carefully shook her earning a groan. "Belle." She slowly opened her eyes, realizing what happened. "Bella we have to go." He said trying not to rush her. "Lets go." Bella got up from where she laid and grabbed Alex's hand.
They walked out of the house and into the car, after Alex put his things in. Bella put the key in the ignition and pulled out of the parking lot. Driving in silence, she refused to say a word. Alex sighed.
"Belle..." Silence. "Bella..." Silence. "Babe please..."
"I dont want to talk about it, Alex." She glared at the road, instead of Alex. She can't take her eyes off the road. They arrived at the airport. There was a lot of army and military people and their family. Alex grabbed his things and got out.
Bella walked out. She gave Alex a big hug. "I'm gonna miss you," she whispered. "And I'll miss you more," He whispered back. A quick kiss, and they were spotted. Everyone in there camouflage suites. Walking into the plane while waving to their families, knowing it might be there last time seeing them. "Everyone aboard." The sarge shouted. "I have to go, babe. I'll send you a letter. promise." Alex said walking with pride into the aircraft. Don't make promises you can't keep. Alex was going to base fourteen. Thats far from where there at. The airplane slowly took flight and drifted away.
Bella drove home sad, she missed Alex already. She opened the front door to her flat. Her dog, JJ came over to her. "He Left." Bella told JJ. He put his head down and whined. "I miss him too." Bella said quietly.
A week later, still no letter. Don't make promises you can't keep. Bella woke up and went out in the front yard with JJ. He grabbed the newspaper with his mouth. Running joyfully he ran to give it to Bella. She took it, and walked to the mailbox. Opening it she took the mail out. She spotted one out of the odd. It had her name on it. Opening it she was excited.

Dear Bella,
I miss you so, and JJ to. I'll see you soon after were done here in Afghanistan. The taliban are strong people, I'll be home as soon as I can.

Bella jumped to JJ's side. "Jay! Daddy misses you! He'll be home soon!" JJ started wagging his tail, running around the yard.
Another week past, Alex still hasn't returned. Bella had send out a letter two days ago.

-Alex Bella screamed in excitement. JJ ran around happily. She wrote the last letter that needed to be written.

She regretted ever being angry at Alex. She just wants him home.
Knock knock...
She got up to see who was at the door. "Who is it?"
"Ma'am we need to talk." His voice projected.
"About what?" She didn't know who was behind the door. Stranger danger!
"It's about your husband..." She gasped. What happened to him? Is he ok? Will I see him again? She opened the door to see three guys in military uniform. Holding Alex's.
"What happened to him?!" She yelled. " Ma'am calm down... he's hurt..."
"HURT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN HURT?" Tears threatened to fall. "He's in the hospital. Doncaster Royal Infirmary."
30 minutes later, Bella entered the hospital.
She ran up to the desk for help. "Excuse me, Where Mr. Stacks room?"
The lady pointed to the room as soon as she did, Bella ran for the room. Bella walked next to the door waiting for what might happen. She then entered the room. She saw a beaten up Alex on a hospital bed. "Bella..."
"Alex..." She jumped into his arms. Wear she needed to always be. "I'm sorry...." Alex whispered. "Don't be.." She whispered back. She didn't care what was happening around them.
She was just glad she was Back in the Soldiers Arms...
