I had to find Meghan. I started calling her, but she wasn't picking up her phone. I searched everywhere and I was already getting worried, because I knew something happened to her and I had to talk to her about it.
I sat on one of the chairs of the 1st floor to think of the places I haven't searched. I searched everywhere. Maybe she went home? Something tells me she didn't. God, I even searched each and every toilet in our university. Where could she be.
I was really hopeless now. I knew I wouldn't find her anymore. I left the university and as I was about to go down the stairs it clicked. I knew where she could be. I ran to the backyard of our university.
It's such a beautiful place where you can sit on a bench, think in silence and not be bothered by anybody. Also, it's a pleasant place for the people who love nature like I do. I just LOVE everything about my nature. Seriously, if it wasn't embarrassing I would certainly sleep on the grass, but that's a long story. Now, I just had to find her.
There are two ways to reach the backyard. The first one is to climb the stairs next to the new building of our university and the next one is going outside passing one of the cafes inside the main building. I decided to take the first way because I was already outside anyway.
I was already reaching the last stairs when I saw her beautiful sunny blond hair being blown by the wind. She was sitting on the bench, her eyes were closed and she had earphones in her ears.
I didn't want to scare her, as her eyes were closed. So, I decided to call her first. She opened her eyes to see who's calling and then push 'decline'. That's when I approached her for her to notice me without being surprised.
I sat beside her on the bench and I didn't say anything. We were both sitting in silence when she decided to initiate the conversation.
"How did you know I wasn't gone and that I was here?" she asked in an emotionless voice. The interesting is that I didn't know her for a long time, but there was something I knew for sure. Today she was different and that's the perfect word to describe her today.
"Well, you remember that we talked about our schedules, right? So, our schedules were almost the same and that's how I knew you didn't have a class, so, you would be either somewhere at the university or at home. I started searching for you everywhere, until I remembered about this place and thought that maybe you would be here."
"Oh," she didn't say anything other than that, which was so unlike her.
I suspected something from the first time we met, but I didn't think it was possible. But now that I think of it, it doesn't seem that impossible. I decided that I had to talk about it with her even if that could be considered as crossing the line.
"You like him, don't you?" I said not looking at her.
"Huh?"
"Matt. You like him, right?" I asked kind of knowing the answer. This time after asking my question I looked at her. She couldn't or didn't want to answer this question, but the fact that she was blushing was already an answer for me.
"Then why did you leave? You could've enjoyed his presence even more. Isn't that what people do when they're in love? Wanting to spend as much time near their loved ones as possible."
"Well..."
"Was it because of Brittany? Were you hurt that he had a girlfriend?"
"No, it wasn't. Honestly, I knew that sooner or later he would have someone knew. Also, if you want to know the truth I knew he wouldn't ever love or like me. He didn't even know I existed before this day."
