The Promise

I step into the front door and close it quietly. Just as I'm about to race up the stair case, I hear the yelling voice of a demon. "WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU LAST NIGHT?!" I turn around to see Lilian with her black hair in a pony tail and dressed in a blue blouse and white jeans, and her hands on her hips. Her light blue eye shot holes into my dark blue ones. "Listen Lil, I was just.....uh.." I tried to remember the excuses I came up with while I was in the car, but failed cause all I could think of was how angry she looked. "'I was just what? Do you have any respect for me at all? I mean seriously how could you just sneak out of your room In the middle of the night and coming back home in the afternoon. So if you have any decency left at all right now tell me the fucking truth, where the hell were you!?"

"I went to that bar that's across the grocery store and got drunk...so I decided to sleep in the car cause I wasn't sober." I said the truth just so maybe my punishment might not be that bad. "And can you not yell anymore, my head is throbbing."

Lilian's hand goes for her forehead and rubs the creases. She hales and exhales before saying, "Thank god you weren't drinking and driving. Just go to your room and I'll give you a punishment when I think of something." I run up the stairs to the bathroom first to brush my teeth. When I'm done I take a good look at my reflection. I look like a homeless person: my black hair is a total mess (well like always), my dark blue eyes look tired and sagged, my lips are really chapped, my sweat shirt and jeans have weird stains on them, and somehow I'm missing my right sock that was on my foot hours ago. I shrug my shoulders and walk across the bathroom to my room. I take my shoes and sock off and change into a white t-shirt and black shorts. I sit on my bed with the covers all messed up and check my iPhone. "You have 11 missed calls from Lilian." The robotic voice said. I delete them all then put my phone down on the small desk that's next to my bed. I then lay down and think hard.
I wonder why I got drunk. Theirs usually a reason. Does there even need to be a reason?
I close my eyes for a couple of minutes until I hear my door creak open. I open my eyes and turn my head to the door.
"Hey." My sister said with a straight face.
"Hi." I replied. Lilian walks over and sits on my bed, with her elbows on knees and hands on cheeks.
"Why have you been drinking lately? Because I thought I shouldn't  bug into your privacy I've let this question slip through my mind way to many times, but since you have decided to do this, now I have to bug in."
"Most of the time to just get away from everything." I sigh and look straight at the ceiling.
"Sounds like dad's old lame excuse." I sit up.
"So what's the deal sis, lay the punishment on me." I say while waving my hands.
"No going out anywhere but the grocery store for a month."
"What? That's just fucking ridiculous and you know it." I look at her now.
"Okay Levi-" Lilian gets off my bed and starts walking around my room nearly tripping over my mess. "What do you expect me to do, huh? Your 16 and your drinking, and as your older sister I-" now she's pointing at her self, "have that duty to take care of that." Shes looking at me with 'that' look.
"Oh! I know. You sir-" God, now she's pointing at me, "have to promise me that you will try your o-so-very best at school this year." She smiles proudly at me. Knowing what she's doing.
I really, really hate this about myself because it mostly doesn't come in handy, I keep promises. I keep them because the guilt if I break them hurts me too much. I don't know why I'm like that but that's just me.
"Please Levi. I don't want you to end up like those homeless people that don't go to school, end up doing drugs-"
"Yeah I get it." I mean school is some dipshit but it's not like I wanna end up homeless..
"Listen I know high school has been bad on you, but not to sound cheesy shit or anything, it will get better. I promise." She says with a toothy smile and a weird excited glint in her eye. That part of her makes her scary.
