Only those who faced ceratin death will know the value of life,I don't think so.True some ppl may get it, but not most of them .I would say it depends on what's happening at that current time and how an individual looks at life on a whole.If he/she was a god fearing person who believes in fate, then that might have a new perspective in life .Where as if they were a atheist who believe everything is a consequence of the choices they made,then they would be just cautious not to make the same mistake twice.This doesn't mean that their perspective on life changed based on a single incident.
In an another scenario a soldier knows the value of life(his and his comrades) yet he still takes another soldier's life because he values his country more than his life though he has faced numerous near death situations. He continues to do so time after time because he values something much more his life.
